Press the reverse switch if the reverse switch does not work it is a case of removing the power then getting a small hook such as the ones used for needlework and picking out the jam

If it still wont run then it is a complete strip down job.

Depending on the cost of the shredder it is cheaper to replace the small home ones than it is to repair them.

Infoguard sq70B shredder stopped and will not turn on. It is very hot. What do I do?

Usually shredders get hot when over used. If you have a reverse switch, use it to see if something is stuck in the shredder. I've found small but very hard balls of paper in the sides, so they do need cleaned out every once in awhile. Also most need oiled with a light oil so you may need to check that too. More often than not an over worked shredder will heat up and stop until cool again.

It jammed and it wont turn on? please help

If you did not turn unit off right away after it jammed it is possible that you may have burned out the motor.

Remove the paper jam and see what happens.

Light dont come on

Shredders have safety switches that turn everything off in emergency conditions. So clean it out good and check movement and function of those switches. Also check for internal fuses, these things can be overworked and blow a fuse.

Paper has wrapped around the cutting blades and is packed in tight. How do I clean this?

    • 1 Unplug the paper shredder. Empty the shreds from the collection bin. Pull as much stuck material as possible from the top and bottom of the shredder blades with pliers.
    • 2 Place the paper shredder back on the collection bin base and plug the shredder back in. Rock the shredding direction back and forth between forward and reverse. Pull on the jammed pieces as the shredder shifts between directions.
    • 3 Run the shredder in reverse continuously once the paper jam is cleared. Make two passes across the cutting blades while drizzling synthetic shredder oil. Switch the direction to forward to run continuously for one minute.
    • 4 Lower two sheets of clean paper into the shredder. The paper removes excess oil, metal fragments and debris from the cutting blades. Blast the blades with compressed air when you notice a build-up of small paper scraps that may cause a jam.

Infoguard-10 sx100m motor runs, sounds like gears are turning , goes both forward and reverse. i cleaned all of the teeth, looks clean, but won't accept paper. i am handicapped and am having a hard time...

Hello,

When motor is running, look to see if the cutters are turning. The cutters can be seen by looking into the throat of the shredder. If the cutters aren't moving, the gears may have been stripped and shredder needs to be repaired or replaced.

Good luck...

My shredder stopped working in the middle of a shred. I have cleaned all shredding from it, but it still refuses to run. Is there a thermo cut off switch, and if so, where?

  • Shut off the shredder. Unplug it and let in cool down for up to one hour. This will work if the shredder has stopped due to excessive use.

Check to see if the shredder is jammed. This is the most common cause of shredder problems. Click the power switch to reverse, which should clear a minor jam. If not, set the shredder to auto, and then to reverse again until the jam clears.

  • 3

Clear extremely stubborn paper jams by grabbing the stuck paper and gently pulling it out. If smaller pieces of paper cause the jam, shut off the shredder and unplug it. When it cools down, carefully use a pair of tweezers to remove the paper bits.

  • 4

Determine if the power supply to the shredder is working properly. If the power supply is cold, use an alternative source of electricity for your shredder. If it is warm, there may be a problem with the shredder itself. Call your office machine repair shop or the shredder manufacturer for assistance.

Sharpen or oil the blades. Shredder blades need to be oiled on a regular basis to keep your machine in proper working order. Get oil made specifically for shredder blades from an office supply store.

    ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.
