Af audio power amp

I am working on a Cobra 25 LTD Classic radio. Is there a replacement part through NTE or others for the YD 1022? The audio output chip is running too warm.

Just because the chip is warm doesn't mean it's bad, especially if it seems to work fine otherwise. Do however make sure that the device is properly heatsinked, and inspect the work done in the process of any modifications. If for some reason the device is self-oscillating it could do so at a frequency above hearing thereby going unnoticed. That will cause the device to overheat, and also make modulation weak and the RF to splatter out of band. You'll have lots of power on the RF wattmeter, but people can barely hear you if that's the case.

How do i adjust dead key on a cobra 25 ltd classic cb

The only "adjustment" is the AM POWER trimmer. Lowering this will lower your dead key but will also lower your "swing" power. the TX circuit must be modified to lower the dead key and maintain full output. there are many articles on the web for such modification.

I just purchased a cobra 29 LTD Classic mobile CB radio.Pro tuned high performance Mosfet Final I have a palomar 450 LD mosfet linear.will i have any problems?

Not if the power output from radio to amp is set correct and the jumper for coax is correct length and there is absolute perfect match between them and the antenna used. Afterthought: also the amp better be connected to something big enough to power it.

I have a cobra 25 ltd classic with a 102" whip. It

hello firstly it would be wise to connect your power lead directly to your battery secondly have you checked the vswr on the antenna make sure it is tuned to your radio i presume you have an swr metre and lastly check all coax connection make sure none are shortening out check pl259 at rear of radio and also check lead goin into antenna you can ajust the antenna by raising or lowering the whip .when you acheive 1.5 or better tighten up it should work ok for then
goodluck

12 volts, around 15 amps. For a base station, try an Antron-99 groundplane antenna.

Cobra 25 ltd wx wont power up

You most likely blew a Diode that is back near the power plug.

It is easy to fix the diode but if you continued to apply power you may have damaged other parts including the audio chip.

Cobra 29 Ltd

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me" again.

The initial posting would still hold true, best would be:
  • remove TR18;
  • replace 2SC2069 with 2SC1969; and
  • adjust L12, 13 & 14.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

No!

On the YD1022 the pinout is: Corresponding pins on the TA7222 :

1,5 & 6 are ground 3, 7 & 8
2 is audio input 4
3 is feedback 6
4 grounds through a capacitor for frequency compensation 5
7 & 8 are audio output 9
9 & 10 are +12VDC VCC 1

The TA7222 also uses pin 10 for feedback & freq. comp. The circuits are very different & would need to be redesigned to interchange these chips.

Fuse

Hi,

There are only a couple of components that could cause the fuse to blow. They are:
1. Reverse protection diode (D23)
2. filter capacitor (C123)
3. Outputs (TR14 & 15)
4. Audio Amp (IC4)
5. Zener Diodes (D22 & 19)
6. the fuse itself (it should be 2 Amps

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.
