I have a big screen tv and after turning it on one day the picture and sound are m.i.a. the screen stays blue the channel numbers will show up and the menu shows up fine. but no sound or picture. Now if i put it in the pip and have one on main and the other on a different input source I can get a picture on the half of the screen but no sound and no pic in the pip box. Can I fix this or should I get a new tv? magnavox 42mf700017

Re: No pic or sound
The TV is in some kind of protection mode, the blinking LED show you an error code.
Try pressing 062596 and then press menu button (do these in quick
motion, don't let them to time out while keying)...see what happens
I also heard that this problem appeared with some people because the of
the burnt fuse in the TV. To fix that it has to be taken to the tech
And yes I also heard about this issue many times, seems like this TV set is very popular with this kind of problem.

Good Day, rbls;
This is a generic description of a common concern of this type. 90% of the time if the pic turns a color then turns off it is the picture tube.
If the picture is lost and the pic/screen turns blue it is normally a lost of signal from the TV's source (cable box, vcr,dvd & etc), check all cables, try different inputs & etc.
Good Luck, big IRISH. For more detail e me at email@example.com
Blue screen that has gotten worse over the past few days, I would suspect fluid on your signal board.
The three CRT's in the TV has coolant that tries to keep them cool but they have a problem with the 'glycol' leaking out of it's chamber.
Take speaker grill off, remove panel and look on the right side of opening. Look for fluid on the board, shinny substance, it's hard to see so look closely. That is the most common problem.
2&3 are the CRT's or the CRT's drive circuit.
Good Luck, Day,let me know, Big Irish.
when you say flickering??? are you saying the screen goes black and comes back on?? does the sound go out at the same time and comes bag on with the pic ? Is the sound there when this happens but is distorted. Is the pic blacked out or is it greying out with lines and twisting?? Need more info please as if its blacking out and the sound goes with it it may be going into shutdown. If the pic is getting kinda greyish with it twisting and the sound is there and ditorted then the tuner could be bad
