Linksys wireless adapter won't auto connect to 2Wire router

I recently purchased a Linksys wireless adapter to connect my PC to my SBC provided 2Wire router, however everytime I boot up my computer I have to manually open the Linksys Wireless Manger Program to connect to the 2Wire router. I've never had to "manually" connect before and so I'm wondering why I need to now? Do I need to adjust channel settings on my 2Wire router? Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I have a linksys wpc100 wireless range finder card for my laptop, and I am having an issue getting it to conect to my 2wire wireless router witch was provided by my ISP (AT&T). My other laptops at my house have built in wireless card. and they have no issue connecting. Dose any one have an idea what I might need to do to get this to work? The linksys manager keeps wanting to make it connect to channel 8 but when i change the router to go to channel 8 it still will not connect.

Go into the wireless adapter settings and make your connection "default" and then it should connect automatically .. and if not then look for a "connect automatically setting

if its limited your not getting the right IP or your not connecting to you isp's DNS servers

Linksys Adapter and 2wire router

  1. ensure that a wireless connection is created in control panel on the pc, it may not even be attempting to connect
  2. ensure that the router wireless is turned ON, it may have been turned off as a security measure when no wireless pcs were used
  3. The security settings on the adaptor may be set to the office network and locked
wep password at home is different or not enabled, so the secured adaptor will not connect.
make any changes from a cable connected pc (no chance of data loss)
access the routers settings page and check the settings,
then ensure the adaptor rom if present is set to the same settings

Win98, Linksys USB Adapter, 2wire router... no internet

hi!
sorry if it took a while to get an answer to your question...

anyway, let's begin by ensuring that you have completed installing the drivers & software of your wireless adapter.

launch the linksys wireless program by clicking on the icon for the linksys on the system tray or generally, this can also be launched from the programs menu after clicking on the windows start button.

on the main screen for the linksys, there are 3 tabs: link information, site survey & profiles. select the profiles tab

on the profiles screen, click on the new button to create a new profile. name the profile with a customized ID & click ok.

under choose a net type, select infrastructure mode. enter the SSID (this is your customized ID created on the new profile) & click next.

under network setting select obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) & click on next.

under security settings choose "disabled" for WEP and leave the rest of the fields blank.

confirm the settings by clicking on yes.

note: you don't need a driver for your 2wire router, ensuring that the 2wire is already working with the ethernet connection.
also make sure you are able to see your devices on the mdc page, go to homeportal/management, local network> device list.

i assume that the mac g4 is able to connect wirelessly to this 2wire modem, am i correct?

please let me know if you have any issues... we'll work this one out, ok?
