PCL XL error

1. Check the cables connecting the printer to the computer and make sure they are secure.
2. Turn the printer off and back on.Resetting the printer can sometimes bring it back online.
3. Check the toner or ink cartridge. If your ink is low or empty, the printer won't function.
4. Check for torn paper, paper clips, sticky label residue and other items that could be the cause of error

We have a WorkCentre 7655 that has been working fine for ages but is now causing some issues. A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing.

The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"

As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.

PCL XL error pages that print from an HP LaserJet 1200, 1300, 2200, 2300, 3200 or 3300 series product when a PCL 6 printer driver is in use typically indicate a communication issue. Sometimes this issue is caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application.

Have you printed duplex before?
A lot of driver do not have same features for PCL as they do with Postscript try another driver.

In acrobat go file, print and press advanced. Check print as image. Print the job again and see if you get different results. This does the image processing on the PC. Your document may have a postscript error in it and your device may be set not to print PS errors.

What driver language and version are you using?

Try updating your driver to the newest version, get device status.

You may also wish to try PCL printing for that file. (as a workaround)

Do other files have the same problem? What about when sent to another printer entirely?

That means that the printer does not have sufficient memory tp [rint the document, if it is a text document (eg word) try to print pages in groups, if it is a different document try the following:

The problem is related to a printer memory problem.

If following parameters are set in the HP 4100mfp you will receive and 'Insufficient Memory" error.
1) In 'COPYING' the 'IMAGE QUALITY' is set to 'BEST'
2) In 'ORIGINALS' the 'CONTENT' is set to 'PHOTO'

Following error message is printed:

Error: InsufficientMemory
Operator: EndSession
Position: 32

The solution is to set 'CONTENT' to 'MIXED' or 'TEXT' or set 'IMAGE QUALITY' to 'NORMAL' or you can add additional memory to the HP 4100mfp. "

I had a similar problem with the PCL driver. I fixed it by installing the "HP Universal Printing PS" driver instead.
