Question about Zanussi ZEBF250W Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Leak! i have noticed a pool of water on the floor at the front of the freezer, when you pull bottom draw out there is a small ice patch on the base of the freezer. the water is running threw the door. I lifted the fridge up a bit and the center bottom seems to be wet also. I saw the solution of ?the drain located under the evap. maybe stopped up pour some boiling hot water into it and see if it drains underneath into the drain pan.? Where is the evap? Can you think of any other solutions?

Hi there. It is the ZEBF 250W model. It is a refrigerator and freezer, freezer on bottom. There isn't a water or ice dispenser.

  • brianmcnulty May 29, 2009

Brilliant! Thank you. The only problem now is I just can't seem to find the pan. I followed what you suggested, but there is nothing. I think you're right about the problem, but I can't find the thing! I'm searching for the manual online to see where it says the pan is, but no luck so far...

    Thank you for your help.

Success! So it was indeed clogged with an ice plug. Excellent advice and help.

For those who have this problem with this model: The drip pan is in an open space on the back side of the refrigerator. There is a rubber spout that empties into it. But to clear clogs...you must take out the shelves from the freezer, unscrew and remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. There you will see the water exit. Boiling water cleared it out.

trying to see how to do that....you for sure deserve it!

Is this both a freezer and refrigerator? Does it have ice dispenser and/or water dispenser?

Hi as well,

With no other source of water for the leak, this has to be your defrost water, and it does sound like the drain to the evaporator pan is clogged.

The pan will be underneath the unit -- should be a panel you can remove along the bottom edge to access the pan.

If you trace the drain from the bottom of the unit back into the fridge, you can find where the water is supposed to drain into the pan. This is apparently clogged.

Hope you can find the manual. The pan may be so well placed under the bottom of the unit that it may look like part of the chasis and not a pan. Do you see anything which could look like that -- like a smooth bottom? -- seams which may look like a pan installed? -- wiggle the bottom to see if you get any movement?

Thanks for sharing that info -- I learned something.

Would you mind rating my response as a "problem solved"?

    thanks...

Model52552100 side by side kenmore. What cause ice build up on bottom of freezer?

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

OK the silent defrost pool drop problem. This is one that seem to be playing hide but most are just that leaving everyone wondering what caused the problem. This may be a little tricky but try to locate from what door thee leak is coming from. Also below the refrigerator there are possibilities also liker a crack in the defrost condensate pan near compressor or rven someting I found around mine a couple weeks ago. Someone had placed an object on the top near back of refrigerator and when it fell it became tangeled in the water supply hose to ice maker. I first noticed a small pool to the front and right of floor in the front of refrigerator. The ice bin was full so I did not think that a hose would be loose but it was and cause a pool of water about twice a day. Returned hose to its connection and have had no problems since. You may need to a little detective work yourself but I have found that is the best way. Here are a couple links I want you to read over and a short clip on how to fix a leaking refrigerator, I really hope to be of some help here, Thanks Sea Breeze

Your defrost drain is most likely blocked with ice or sludge. Now when your refrigerator goes into defrost it pours into base of freezer or just anywhere it can to pool up. My Maytag side-by-side refrigerator/freezer Leak

There is a pan and drain hose under the freezer coil that is there to catch any water when the freezer goes into defrost. I feel strongly that is where you will find your leak.
I hope this helps.

These doors are not water cooled. Is there water in the drip pan? Likely not and the drain is froze over with ice. you will have to remove the rear panel inside the freezer and clean the drain. There is most likely ice under the freezer floor that needs removed also. Take your time and do not damage the styrofoam separator and air channels.

Smeg fride freezer leaking

HI Mark,
The evaporator drain is blocked causing the defrost water to pool, freeze and then leak onto your floor.
Clear out the freezer, then use a hammer to break up the ice on the floor. Now remove the rear panel. You'll see more ice build up. Don't use the hammer on it! (Too close to the coils for comfort) Use a hair dryer to warm up/melt the ice below the coils.
You'll see the drain hole now. Clear the drain by forcing a solution of water and bleach or water and baking soda into it with a basting syringe. If the solution will not flow through, slide a length of ¼ inch flexible tubing into the drain tube to push the clog through to the drain pan. Remove the tubing after clearing the clog.

Frigidaire Side-By-Side Refrigerator Leaks Water on Floor

I don't have the same refrigerator, but had a similar issue with a GE. Melt the ice at the bottom of the freezer. I think the water comes from the auto defrost feature. There should be a hole at the back bottom of the freezer that water would go into, and run to an evaporator pan under the refrigerator. The tube may be blocked that allows this water to drain, so it is backing up in the bottom of the freezer, and overflowing through the front bottom of the freezer to your floor.
