Hmmm,
1) May be you need to connect an external keyboard to your laptop and check whether the same happens.
else
2) Check whether the Num Lock is turned ON or OFF. If it is turned ON please turn it OFF by pressing the Num Lock on your keyboard.
else
3) Click Start and go to Control Panel In the left hand side click the Classic View. Now you will have a number of Icons. Double-click on Regional and Language Options. Choose the Keyboard and Language tab. Click Change Keyboards. In the Text Services and Input languages window, make sure the default language is set to English (US) Just below that check the Installed Services window to check whether the correct option is being shown.Click OK. else 4) Turn off computer. Remove both Battery and power cord. Keep pressing the power button for 20 seconds with no battery and power supply. This will make sure no static charges are present in the laptop. Put them back on and check the keyboard. else 5) Call the Dell Technical Support team to run Dell Diagnostics on the system to check keyboard functionality. They can help you replace the keyboard if it faulty and provided the laptop is covered under warranty Good Luck !!! Hope it works asap !!!

The first thing I would try is to open the computer and make sure the keyboard ribbon cable is firmly, and correctly, attached. If it is, then you need to buy a new keyboard.

When you plug a PC keyboard into the USB port, does it work correctly? That's the part that will definitely tell you to replace the keyboard.

I have a hp laptop and when ever i press the number five and six key it is not working mcan anyone help plz

you usually find, that setting the keyboard is done at first install of operating system.if you do not choose your correct country and keyboard layout you could find malfunction of the keyboard.
The other scenario could be the keys themselves have begun to malfunction, the first option will require a reinstall of your operating system and the correct options chosen at this stage.

The volume keys stopped working and the right caps key does not engage capitals on a, s, d or f.

Hi rbjones219 ,

These are the symtoms that you see when the keyboard is about to be damaged completely.

Ususally you find instances where few keys malfunction or stop functioning , and then you have that problem with other keys as well , till the time you have problems with many keys together.

I would recommend you to give it a try by opening up the keyboard and cleaning the circuit , and check if it works fine, if not then it's about time you replace your keyboard.

Note :- If your keyboard is still under replacement warranty , please get it replaced.

Hope ths helps ...:)

Anyone know how to fix this keyboard problem? My Laptop's keyboard is malfunctioning. Only a couple of keys have this problem. Whenever i press the apostrophe key i.e. ' key, nothing happens, it doesn't...

Hi,
This may be caused by dirt. You need to clean your keyboard.
- A quick first step is to turn your machine upside down with the keyboard on your palm
- Then bang your palm against the keyboard. This will help free up some dirt

How can fix my keyboard's problem? and what's the cause of keyboard malfunction? The "i" key has not been typing since yesterday. Please help

You can try pop the key off ( use a knife or screwdriver)
There may be some muck/dust stuck under it.

If this does not fix it, the membrane under the keys may be damaged.
