I am unable to get into my Prestige 334 configuration screen
If I connect just one computer on the Lan and ping 192.168.1.1, the router doesn't respond, when I thought that the software and the setup box would be something coming out of the router and that, for the configuration, I wouldn't need to plug on the net. But if I do so, the router doesn't give any sign of life even if the color is amber for my pc connection.
If I connect the Internet and one computer on the router, then I can successfully connect to the Internet and ping 192.168.1.1. But if I connect to the address http://192.168.1.1, I get the NetGear password box to configure my NetGear router.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL.. http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password. You can now configure the wireless settings. (SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access). Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
It's hard to figure out what you mean with the lack of detail, but I'm assuming you mean, when you connect your computer to the modem, it connects to the internet, but when you use the router, the internet stops working.
Sounds like the router is either configured incorrectly or not at all. Try reading the owners manual on how to set it up:
Does PING works on the same location where Camera's are located?
Usually, RDP connections uses the same PC on LAN and that should work fine. Please check Camera's configuration; make sure they have valid IP address, SM, Default gateway and DNS servers. Make sure that PC with enabled RDP can PING computers on the LAN either by IP address or Computer name. Make sure they're part of the same WORK GROUP.
Hope this helps! Please provide additional information so I can further assist you.
Initially check whether the ip address is assigned in the computer in which internet is not browsing using the command ipconfig/all for windows and ifconfig for linux. If ip is present try to ping the default gateway ip address,if ping is success there is no issue in the cable you used and also with ip address. If ip is not assigned assign ip by manually or by using dhcp of router.Enable and disable the lan card in the router so that sometimes the problem get resolved. After ip is assigned and ping with router is ok .Ensure dns servers are correct else give google public dns server 22.214.171.124.Then try to ping www.google.com in command prompt if ping is success then you can browse.
You must configure first its settings both on your network card and router. See you manual.
First you must connect your internet directly to the computer then get its DNS settings, jot it down. Then connect the router lanport1 to lan card port of your computer using LAN cable. Under lan properties goto TCP/IP settings input the default IPaddress 192.168.0.1 of the router then its subnet mask commonly 255.255.255.0, the router's default gateway, input the DNS settings of your ISP 2 of the set.
Then goto default router's utility web. Open internet explorer, key in router's ip add 192.168.0.1 you should go to router's configuration log in user = admin, pass = just hit enter. Set your time and date then save. You could also test its connection by pinging the IP address of router. on windows DOS. Type ping 192.168.0.1 you should get 4 lines.
If everything is set. Connect the internet cable(UTP/LAN cable) to its WAN port of the router then test to browse the internet. If not then change the DNS settings with the remaining set (on Lan setting).
You should configure your Router as a "router" or as a bridge. Usually, you can access the router's IP via web service (using http://ip.address.of-this.router). In this web access, you can modify your router configuration to act as router or bridge, also you have to specify the DNS, DHCP configuration as well.
Maybe with posting your Type of router, i could help you more with it...
