Question about Compaq Presario Notebook

1 Answer

Backlight fading a year old Acer notebook 5600, having problems with very poor backlight. However, problem goes away and comes back again. When I went to power settings, I tried to slide the toggle to 100% for brightness, but when I clicked 'apply', the toggle slipped back to about 10%. I'm sure this is a software problem and am reluctant to buy a new screen in case I can solve it first.

I don't know what OS you have but there is a power management setting you might want to check. Most likely the monitor is set to go quickly into sleep mode at inactivity. Alternately I don't know what monitor you have but it might be a backlight Issue as well

Acer aspire 3610 graphic or battery problem?

It sounds like your backlight is damaged. On some units this can be replaced on its own. On others, it requires the entire LCD to be replaced. I'll see if I can find out which this is, in your case, and find you a part number.

Have just bought an LG37LD450. Buzzing noise coming from the components at the back of the TV. Annoying. Otherwise TV perfect. Definitely not sound problems because buzzing noise still there when on Mute....

Had this problem as well. Ran through a laundry list of possible solutions. Finally found that the key is to increase the backlight (Access via [Menu] [Picture] ) to 100% and the noise goes away. If this is bad for the life of the backlight, just pray the backlight burns out inside year 1 while the warranty is still valid!

My screen fades after 3 seconds after it was switched on

It can be the problem in the backlight inverter circuits, you will need to open it up and inspect the inside. Please see my pictures here to get some ideas what to look for inside:

Hopefully it will be bad lamp assemblies. For 15" monitor, I would not take it to repair shop, it will end up costing you at least $50 and more, use that money toward new monitor instead.

Acer Aspire 5610 LCD backlight problem

If it is less than 1 year old, go to http://www.acerwarranty.co.uk for UK or http://support.acer.com/ for US.

I did this last year for my girlfriends laptop backlight problem and it was a free courier both ways and was repaired within 2 weeks (new part required). No cost to you.

Otherwise, sorry I dont know how to fix it.

Laptop LCD goes black after a few seconds

Hello,

Yes, The pink tint is an indication that the backlight is failing. Now the backlight is basically dead, the best way to get back going is to do an Ebay search for your model laptop and get a new screen. Most screens can be purchased for around $50.00 - $70.00 and they are very easy to swap. Email me if you need more info.

Faded out Acer LCD screen

It's not a contrast / brightness issue, even at the lowest setting the screen would look normal and probably not the way you're seeing it now. It's likely that the inverter or backlight went out on the lcd. You could possibly turn them up the highest level, but it would still need to be serviced by Acer for it to work correctly.

Glad to hear you've got the extended warranty.

Best of Luck!

If you have the old drum put it back in and see what happens to the copy. if is better, then yu may have a bad new drum. They do have them. Poor copy quality is normally drum or toner in these Brothers. This model is an excellent machine by the way.

Acer Aspire 5720Z Notebook - Screen flickers, goes blank then comes back on when screen/lid is adjusted

I have the same problem. It happened to me about half a year ago and reinstalling the OS solved it. So it's by no chance a hardware problem. I have a Acer TravelMate 6291. It must be some kind of a software problem, but don't know which one :-(
