Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

My creative media player stock to rebuilding

My Creative Zen and plugged it into my computer. I left for a few minutes. When I came back I noticed that the computer didn't recognize the device yet, so I looked at it and it said "rebuilding". I waited for twenty minutes and it was still at the same progess as before. I even poked a pin into the reset hole in the device and it turned off. But when I turned it back on it went right back to the "rebuilding" screen and was at the same, frozen progess as before. So now I have my Zen unplugged from the computer and letting it just sit on the table, and it's STILL not doing anything, it won't even turn off if I try to. Help? i have the same problem but mine still get stuck on the rebuilding page..it only loads up about 5%..is there other suggestions that i can use to fix this

First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Creative Zen Rebuilding Problem (Freezing)

Hold the reset button with a paper clip AND the play button at the same time while flipping the power switch. The ZEN should go into recovery mode. You probably want to do format all but you can try the different options. You also may need to download/update the firmware here.

I've been having the exact same problem. No matter how often I reset it it still becomes stuck on the rebuilding screen. I was thinking I may just copy all of my music onto my computer and then do a complete reset on my Zen and copy it back but I don't want to go to all that trouble if there is an easier way to fix it.

How can i connect my creative zen with my pc if i connect creative zen vith computer i cant find it in My Computer

I had a similar problem after I had used my Zen a few times. I plugged the device into my PC and it sounded like windows was trying to connect to to the Zen but didn't make the normal two tone USB device connection sound. It was more mono-tone. I tried reinstalling the Zen Media Explorer and that didn't do anything. I later looked at the Zen under windows device manager and noticed windows marked the Zen as having issues. I right clicked on the device and picked un-install driver. I then unplugged the Zen and plugged it back into my PC to allow driver re-install. I was able to connect to the zen after that.

Creative Zen Freezes on Rebuilding

My Zen locked when I turned it on. It wouldn't play the track the screen was on so I pressed the reset button and turned it on again. It was then still locked on the same track so I tried turning it off which then froze as it was shutting down. After another reset it went through the rebuild screen then locked again. I then used the above fix (pin in reset, then hold play and power switch down). Taking me into the kind of bios screen I formatted the contents. Then added my library again. It's now working fine.
This is the second Zen I've had because the first one had the same problem so I took it back without trying to fix it. Both times the problem occured when I had my Zen plugged into my car stereo auxiliary jack whilst switching the ignition on in my car. I can't understand why this would cause the problem but I'll avoid doing that in future.

Don't buy this unit. The power system is prone to being blown out when disconnecting from USB. I've blown out two. I'm on my third. BAD DESIGN. AVOID IT!

CREATIVE ZEN GONE HAYWIRE

sounds like it might be either a bad firmware driver, which can be erased and reinstalled via the USB connection to your computer and a download from creative. Or the battery has gone bad, in which case you have to have it sent to creative for Repair.
