Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

Stuck in Reload after dropping it :(

Hi, I have a Creative Zen Micro that has been working with no probs for three years. I drop it on the floor and now it starts up in Recovery Mode. When I try Clean Up, Format and Reload Firmware nothing happens. Now I've tried updating the firmware, but it stops 1/3 of the way, and then nothing. Have also tried holding te Play/Pause button while using the reset key, - nothing happens. Is there anything to be done or should I not bother anymore? Best, Christina.

    Thanx, I've actually tried this...deleting and then reinstalling. Unfortunatley, it didn't help.

Christina , i think ur problem is that either to connect it to ur computer and delete it so it might restart

My CREATIVE ZEN Micro doesn't play any media after i accidentally dropped it. Is there hope?


1. Ensure that the player is turned off

2. Remove the battery.

3. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert

the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue

mode appears.

4. After 2-3 seconds the rescue menu will be displayed.

At this point the battery can safely be replaced and maintenance options

performed.

5. Four options will be displayed on the LCD screen:

? Clean Up - (To rearrange your stored data)

? Format All - (To format and remove all data)

? Reload Firmware - (Reloads your player's operating system - Do not

choose this option unless you have downloaded a firmware update from the

Creative website)

? Reboot - (Restarts your Player)

6. Select the Clean Up and then the Reboot option.

Now, please try turning off the player.

Creative zen micro stuck in recovery mode


To Fix any problems with broken firmware form attempted “playsforsure”
firmware updates etc where your pc finds it as a 20mb drive and it sits
in recovery mode and does bugger all:
1. Uninstall all creative software & drivers
2. Uninstall Media Player 11 and Media Player 11 runtime (will require a
reboot for each thing). This is done by going to add/remove programs and
uninstalling (this will put your pc back to wmp10).
3. Re-install the Zen Driver from the creative website and reboot (I just reloaded Media Explorer using my ZMP install CD).
4, Plug Zen in.
5, Make sure you have the firmware update ready, run it but don’t click
the language bit yet), leave the mouse hovering over your language
selection. (for ZMP, just start firmware exe file, there is no language selection. You can get the firmware update from Creative’s site, go to SUPPORT and then DOWNLOADS).
6. On the Zen- select “reload OS” (on ZMP I believe it is Erase or Reload Firmware, something like that, don’t have it in front of me).
7. As soon as it flashes up “reload new firmware now via USB” click the
language button
8. Now the pc should find it and allow you to re-load the
firmware. (it may take a few attempts)
9. Once complete, click close and restart the pc. Everything should now
be fine.
10. Once all is working, you can re-install WMP11 and it will work fine.

How can i install my creative micro zen


if your pc reconises the zen ,then your there already,, bring up the the zen on the screen,click on browse your media,,then minimize the window,.then open up your music folder and minimize that window,, then u can drop n drag your music in 2 the zen,,or u can load a cd in2 your pc,, and a window pop up should appear, ,saying rip cd in,,, u click on creative,, then follow instructions,, hope that helps

Sounds like bad hard drive, if unit was dropped or bumped it crashes the drive, you can try it on another pc see if it works there
