Kenmore 700 series top load washer problem

Washer wobbles and vibrates in spin cylcle. Problem just started and have tried levelling washer, realigning clothes but problem persists. It does this every time. Nothing seems to help. I have the same problem that the inner basket keeps hitting the wall and makes huge noise. My wife said that it was louder than our previous one. Called Sears to exchange but don't know which model is better - kind of worry for anything that carries the Kenmore brand now...

Kenmore 700 top load. The tup tilted toward back and I think is hitting the back wall. Works okay without clothes but don't know how to tilt the machine forward since it has self adjusting legs at rear. Please help. Thanks.

Could you also get me the model # so I can see the exact machine you have?

Hi, couple questions so that I can try and help. Whe the lid is open, does the tub look centered or is it leaning toward the front of the machine?
When trying to level the washer, did you lift the back end up and set it down so the self adjusting legs could set themselves?
If you put the washer in spin cycle with no clothes, doyou get better results.
Things I need to know so that I can assist you.

    Thanks
    Vic

To tip the washer. put one foot against the front panel at the bottom and grab the control panel and pull the top of the washer toward you. Then let the washer back down and you should hear the rear legs adjust.
If it sits back down and you do not hear any adjusting of the legs, the legs might be hung up and you might have to tap on them (small hamer works great) to free them up.
I hope this helps.

This machine has self adjusting legs in the rear. Tilt the machine forward and see if you can hear the spring loaded legs adjust in the back if not they may need some lubrication and some help. tap on legs with hammer gently and they will usually release. Front legs have screw adjustments and very important locking nut which 99 out of 100 installers wont use. Thank you

There are 4 springs that support and stabilizer this tub located at perimeter of the bottom of the tub. Possible one has broken sounds like the rear stabilizer spring is broken and causing the tub to lean back. If you are not able to remove the jacket from this machine this will be a difficult job.

Excessive vibration in spin cycle

Be sure the washer is on a solid surface, no plywood or skid platforms. Then be sure to lock in the front levelling legs.

Kenmore series 80 washer makes loud knocking noise during spin cy

Unless your front loader is set firmly on concrete and leveled to perfection, the force of a heavy wash load spinning in excess of 1000rpm will create a bit of vibration and noise.A firm footing is your best defense against to much movement.
Also due to the earlier movements during the spin cycle, the shocks that are used to dampen the spin cycle might have been broken or damaged.
If the problem persists inspite of proper levelling, please do check for the shocks or might have them replaced them for good.

Washplate problem Kenmore Elite Calypso washer

Hello genny2626
Welcome,

You said, your 6 year old Kenmore elite top loader's wash plate doesn't seem to go through its proper motions. When the lid is closed and the washer has filled and the agitating cycle begins, you can hear a vibrating noise as if the plate is trying to move on the gentle cycle, but when the lid is opened, nothing has moved at all. The drain and spin work fine, and the machine goes through an entire cycle without error messages, but the clothes aren't clean. You said, you have heard a lot of horror stories of how expensive these washers are to repair, so would like an idea of what's wrong beforehand.

Here are a list of common vibration noises

Noisy, vibrating, off-balance

Is the washer level? Does the washer rock when pushed
against the corners?
The washer must be level. The front and rear feet must be in
firm contact with the floor. Check that the locknuts are
tightened. See “Level the Washer.”
Is the floor flexing, sagging or not level?
Flooring that flexes or is uneven can contribute to noise and
vibration of the washer. A ³⁄₄" (1.9 cm) piece of plywood under
the washer will reduce the sounds. See “Location
Requirements.”
 Is the load balanced?
Evenly distribute the load in the washer basket and make
sure the height of the load does not exceed the top row of
basket holes. See “Starting Your Washer.”
Do you hear clicking or other noises when the cycle
changes from washing to draining or spinning?
When the drive system shifts or the washer basket settles
between cycles you may hear noises that are different from
your previous washer. These are normal washer noises.
Is the washer gurgling or humming?

Is the washer level? The wash load
should be balanced and not overloaded. The washer must be
level. The front feet should be properly installed and the nuts
tightened. Reset the rear leveling legs (if needed). See the
Installation Instructions.
Did you completely remove the yellow shipping strap with
cotter pins? See the Installation Instructions.
• Are the gears engaging after the drain and before spin, or
is the upper part of agitator clicking during wash? These
are normal washer noises.

Let me know if any of these are the solution!
