Can I reset the cd drive firmware?
I download the new firmware version from manufacturer web site with the correct model number. When I try to update the old cd room firmware, its tell me that the new firmware no match with mine. You think that the actual firmware on cd room can be reset.

It's most likely that your cd drive firmware is still intact, because it would make sense that the software checks for correct hardware before installation.
Try to use your drive as is... does it function properly?
