Question about Whirlpool GY396 Electric Kitchen Range
I have a Whirlpool Gold electric range Model GY396LXPQ02 and yesterday the START button on the control panel stopped working. The time still shows and all the other buttons work but the START is not responding. The oven light still works as well as the cooktop. I do I go about testing the Control panel as the defect vs the Migration control board?
It sounds like you have an oven problem rather than a start button problem. Is there an error code? If so list your model and error code on a search engine and you will find error codes. Or you can just list make model number and error codes and you can find a chart of Whirlpool error codes. I have done this with no problem. That should tell you the exact problem and things to try.
It may be neither issue you mentioned. It could be a bad element or a short.
