Most travelmates have a couple of clips holding the keyboard in place, if you look at the top of the keyboard there is usually 4 clips that you can gently push back with a screwdriver. Just be carefull of the ribbon cable attached to the keyboard, don't yank it out.

How do I remove the keys on a Logitech MK700 keyboard to clean properly?

Try using simple flat-head screw driver. It should remove easily, but i don't think that'll solve your problem. You should pry apart your keyboard with screws and use damp cloth to clean the board, as well as rubber buttons. I'm not so certain about that, but you should try it. Dusan

I need to remove keys from my keyboard for cleaning

Most keys should 'pop' off but the tricky bit is getting them back on...
If you remove them I would advise taking a photo of the keyboard ... may sound obvious but putting the unfamiliar keys in the right place can be a test on your memory/recall skills to say the least.
1. First up, you need to use a small screwdriver to carefully remove all keys from your keyboard. Then loosen the rubber pieces from each of them and place them separately.
2. Once all keys are removed from your SAMSUNG NP-N145- keyboard, you can either use an ear bud or a cotton swab dipped in water to gently clean the inner regions of the keyboard. However, make sure that you do not use too much water for this cleaning purpose.
3. After cleaning the inner regions of your keyboard you need to start cleaning the individual keys using a light fluid and foam rubber. After cleaning these pieces you need to leave them alone to get dried up.
4. Once the keys are dried up you can assemble them back into the keyboard carefully. Make sure that the rubber pieces too are assembled in their appropriate places.

Remove the key from your keyboard and clean it. Dirt, hair, dust, etc. obstructs keys causing them not to work.

My nb100 laptop. keyboard some keys not working.

There are various ways of solving this issue. Some of them has these broad explanation.

Problem #1 - My Laptop Keyboard Keys Not Working

Sometimes you may find certain keys of your laptop keyboard not working properly. You type those keys but there is no output on the screen or you need to press these keys firmly to get a result. You face this problem if you accidentally spill any liquid substance on your keyboard, or due to dust accumulating on the inside of the keys, pressing certain keys really hard while playing games or even due to absence of lubrication. Therefore you are suppose to maintain your laptop keyboard by cleaning and lubricating it regularly.

Troubleshooting Steps
  1. To start with, take out each key out from the laptop keyboard. Use a small screwdriver to carefully pry each key by making it loose. As they become loose, keys will simply pop off. Also, take out the rubber piece present under every key. Keep the keys and rubber pieces in different containers.
  2. Once you have removed all keys from the keyboard, you will have to clean the keyboard from the inside. Use cotton swabs or ear bubs and slightly dip them in water. Avoid getting them too moist, as excess water can damage the keyboard. Meticulously clean the whole keyboard using moist cotton swabs, laying extra emphasis on key spaces.
  3. Now, start cleaning keys you had earlier removed and kept in the container. Use foam rubber and lighter fluid to clean each key alone. This will help in removing any sticky substance present on keys. Apply any household cleaner on these keys and let them stay for about 15 minutes. After this, wash all the keys properly using hot water and let the keys dry completely.
  4. The small rubber pieces which you took out earlier and kept in the container have to be thoroughly rinsed in warm water, after you have sprayed a household cleaner on them. Soak these rubber pieces up in paper napkins so that they dry quickly.
  5. To lubricate the keys, place all keys (facing top-down) on a flat surface. Apply mild lubricant from all sides, on all keys and leave them to dry. Avoid applying too much lubricant instead go for a light coat.
  6. Similar to the manner in which you lubricated the keys, apply mild lubricant on the keyboard surface and let it dry.
  7. Once you have cleaned and lubricated all the parts, carefully reassemble the laptop keyboard. Begin with placing all rubber components on the keyboard. Next, fix all keys in their respective positions cautiously securing the wire in these keys. Use your finger and press down all keys, one at a time, firmly so that they fit properly in the slots. That is it.
The complete process will take you a maximum of 2 hours. Cleaning and lubricating the laptop keyboard in the above prescribed manner once a year, can prevent many 'laptop keyboard not working' situations.

Problem#2 - My Laptop Keyboard Types Wrong Characters

When your laptop keyboard types wrong characters, it is because of a software problem and not a hardware one. If you accidentally press specific keys on your keyboard, it can activate a particular function responsible for the problem.

Troubleshooting Steps
  1. Select the control panel option
  2. Click on ? 'Regional and Language Services' ? 'Languages' ? 'Details' ? 'Key Settings'
  3. Choose the option 'Switch Between Input Languages' and click on 'Change Key Sequence'
  4. Make sure that all the check boxes in the window are unchecked and repeat the same for 'Switch to..... (Keyboard Type)'
  5. Click ?'Ok' ? 'Ok' ? 'Apply' ? 'Ok'.
Problem#3 - My Laptop Keyboard Types Numbers Instead of Letters

This is another laptop keyboard problem due to some software issue. It is possible you may have enabled a digital lock unknowingly.

Troubleshooting Steps

Pressing the 'Function' key along with the 'Num lock' key (Fn + Numlock) or press the 'Function' Key along with the 'Shift' and 'Num Lock' key (Fn +Shift + NumLock). This will disable the lock and consequently solve your problem

Laptop keys sticking

Try the following:
1. You need to clean up your laptop keys by a soft paintbrush or vacuum cleaner. Try removing the keys by gently pulling it sidewards.
2. Run virus update and scanning. Probably there is a VIRUS on your system

Thanks. Cheers!

Kid spilled soda now keyboard will not type

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing Fixya. The chances are rare that it would work, because liquid may have done damage to the integrated circuit.

But we can give it a try:

What you will need:
  • lint free cloth.
  • dry cloth or duster.
  • suitable cleaning fluid (isopropyl alcohol).
  • cotton buds.
  • Can of compressed air or vacuum cleaner.
  • Flat tip screwdriver (optional for thorough clean).
Shutdown your PC and remove the mains plug, unplug the keyboard(remember where it was plugged in) and hold it upside down to releaseany debris from inbetween the keys.

This is where the patience comes in, make a note ofthe position of all the keys or you will have trouble putting them backcorrectly, alternatively just remove the letter keys A - Z from the keyboard (which is where the most of the dust/debris will be) and refer to fig 1.4 as a reference to put them back.

All the keys can be removed although the larger keys (space bar, enterkey, shift keys, backspace, caps lock, etc) can be difficult to putback so you might avoid removing them.

Remove the keys using the screwdriver, ease the screwdriver under the key and gently lift the key top off (see fig 1.3).

note: don't forget to make a note of their position !! remove-key-cap.jpg keyboard-layout.gifWhen you have removed all the keys (except any keys youwish to avoid) use the compressed air (or vacuum cleaner) to remove anydust and debris from inside the keyboard.

Now is a good time to give the keys a proper clean, for bestresults clean each one individually (the patience thing again) with thecloth and cleaning fluid, when clean, wipe them over with the drycloth.

Before replacing the keys, take your lint free cloth anddampen it with your cleaning fluid (don't put the liquid directly onthe keyboard), give the surface of the keyboard a good wipe overensuring to clean as much as possible any keys that you haven'tremoved.

When the keyboard is nice and clean replace the keys according to your notes or if you have just removed the letter keys use fig 1.4 as a guide, to put the keys back on position the key in place and press gently but firmly until it clicks home.

After replacing all the keys give the keyboard a quick wipe over with your dry cloth and you have a nice clean keyboard.

Hope this will help !

Regard's

Can't refit space bar & alt Gr keys to Acer Extensa 4620

Removing the keys can sometimes damage the very small retaining clips then it won't clip back in place.
You can get replacement keyboards on the Internet, I've bought keyboards for approx. US$20 from the USA. The keyboard is easy to remove and replace, no need to get a techo to do it.

4 keyboard keys aren't functioning

Chances are there is a physical problem with the keyboard. Are the keys sticky or do they press normally and still not work? If the keys are sticky when you push them you can remove the keyboard and keys and try to clean the keys with rubbing alcohol. Chances are the keyboard is not defective and the link below will help you take care of that problem. If you need any further help let me know.

I am including a link to a new keyboard for your model Laptop. They are fairly reasonable condidering they are laptop keyboards.
