Question about Sony Handycam HDR-SR1 HD Camcorder
I have deleted videos of my HD hardrive by accident is there any way to retrieve them? I have plugged it in by usb into my laptop and the files were not there to import on to my laptop! Please help :)
Deleting files from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash onyour comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. So a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.
As a result, you have chance to retrieve those deleted videos as long as the video data on your camcorder(memory card or hard disk) are not written over. And the best way is to try some video recovery software, recommended Asoftech Data Recovery as it helped me before, the program can also recover photos and music.
video photo recovery program
First of all you need to install the program on your computer, then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos.

Those deleted videos are highly possible to be recovered, you should use video recovery software to help ASAP, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover photo and music files.
Video Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Video Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)
A Tip: Before your videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the handycam memory card or stick in case the original files(your videos) are overwritten.

OK! Don't worry! As long as you take the
right steps, you do have chances to get all your deleted videos back:
Step1. Stop using this camcorder in case that any new file would rewrite your original videos.
Step2. Insert this camcorder to your computer and prepare to restore your videos.
Step3. Download a deleted file recovery freeware to your computer and start to retrieve all your deleted photos back:
In fact, this freeware has ever successfully saved all the inaccessible data of my friend off from his camera. So, I believe it can also work successfully on your camcorder, too.
Simply read more information of this freeware here:
Step4. Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Next time, you'd better back up all your important photos on different memory cards or drives in case of the similar data recovery problems.
