Is it possible using a shorter serpentine belt to bypass the ac compressor the pulley there is bad and a expensive fix.
Go to your auto part store and ask for Dorman A/C compressor bypass pulley.
Check out a sample video here.

not possible to bypass the entire compressor? seems like a real pain to remove old compressor and add a new pulley in. the tensioner seems to have about 3 inches of 'give' thinking of just measuring with a string a belt to match new config. what do you think?
ok checked outnstores they didnt make an ac bypass pulley for my vehicle...sadness.

solution has been made. original serpentine belt is 80 inches a 62 inch does the bypass job fits just barely but it does work. my problem has been solved after buying 7 different serp belts I finally found the winner. problem has been solved thank you all for your time and effort.

SOURCE: !991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?
Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.
