I have a Zenith Z50PX2D that has a problem turning on. It is temperature related in that if the ambient temperature is below 78 degrees the relay engages and release immediately when turned on and the standby light goes off. I had opened up the back to troubleshoot and found when I disconnect the 4 pin connector from the power supply board the relay will stay engaged until I plug the connector back in. I assuming it is not the power supply but some other board problem. Any idea what the problem may be?
These flat panel Tv's, all of them, sometimes have cheap Capacitors in the power supply section. They'll keep tv off and tripping relay circuits. It's not a fault in the power supply ic's, it's a fault in the main Capacitors. The IC thinks there is a leak, so it shuts down tv. It monitors voltages through comparators, and compares them to reference voltages. So check main power Capacitors and replace as needed. A lot of Chinese made Capacitors are cheap. In the big sets, they break down a lot.

I recently had the same problem as well. I called zenith/lg and I bought this model in Jan of 2006. The lady on the phone said they are well aware of the problem. She asked me to have a copy of my receipt faxed over from best buy and then she'll set me up with their repair center. I was barely on the phone with her 10 min. The repair center is coming out next week to fix the tv and all parts/labor are being covered.

dont get mad like i did, report this problem to zenith, they seem to be aware of the problem with this particular model.
i gave them the model number and they requested the purchase date, then extended the warranty and gave a number for a local repair shop which came for my set a couple days ago.
so far so good. it may be a while until i know whether the repairs will work, however hats off to zenith, so far, which seems to be providing appropriate customer service and standing by their expensive products.

I had the same problem with same model TV a year back, they replaced some board (I was not there at home) as I had warranty and after a year same issue popped up again.. Can you please tell me what board replacement worked for you. I don't have warranty anymore.
SOURCE: Z50PX2D - I did not have the typical "Popping"
I own the same set. I had the "pop" happen to me. I decided not to fix the set, but before trashing the TV I removed all the boards and parts that I could. This included the Power Supply Board and the Main Board along with the Y Sus, Z Sus, Y Buffers, Speakers, Cooling Fans and few other things I don't know the name of. I'll sell all these parts $150, cheaper than you will find the Power Supply Board by itself. With all these parts you can fix the set cheaply no matter what ends up being the problem. Let me know if you are interested.
