How to relight pilot on boiler

Every boiler will have manufacturer lighting instructions on the unit, so be sure to read it thoroughly and turn off the gas for 5 min to make sure there is no gas build-up around the boiler. Some have electronic ignition and some require a manual lighting of the pilot. If the control knob has only ON-OFF, it has electronic ignition. Simply turn off the power (at the electric switch on the boiler or at the breaker box) and then turn it back on and it will relight itself when heat is needed) If it has ON-OFF-PILOT, you will have to light it manually. You will have to turn the gas valve knob so the arrow is pointing at the word "pilot" and depress the knob, while lighting the pilot with a lighter or match. Continue to hold the knob down after the pilot is lit for about 30-45 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat up. If you release the pilot knob and the pilot stays lit, you can turn the knob to the "ON" position and the burner will light. Please be careful. if you are not sure what you are doing, call a professional.

Need to light pilot light

You need to turn the knob on the gas valve (inside the heater) to the "pilot" position. Then, while holding a flame over the pilot assembly push down on the knob.

Gas should come out of the pilot and ignite. Continue holding the knob down for 10-15 seconds. Release the knob and the pilot should stay lit. If not the pilot generator may need to be replaced.

Turn the knob to the "on" position, close the heater and turn the heater on and turn the thermostat to hot. The heater should fire. If it does not fire and the pilot goes out, that may also indicate a pilot generator problem.

Pilot light is ok burner will not ignite. the flame goes out soon as i release button.

You seem to have left a mixed message, as far as the problem is concerned. However, I think I have figured it out. But, first, let's go through the lighting procedure. To light the PILOT, you turn the Control Knob to PILOT and push the knob all the way in. While holding the knob in, you press the ignitor button. Once the pilot lights, you continue to hold the knob in for 30 to 60 seconds (which allows the Thermocouple to fully heat up), then you ease off on the control knob and the pilot stays lit. Right? Then you turn the control knob to ON and the Burner lights. But, that's not what's happening with your heater.

In a short version here's what I think you meant ... When you release the Control Knob from the PILOT position, the Pilot Flame goes OUT. It never has a chance to light the burner. Right?

If this is the case, couple off things can cause this. First, the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) is clogged with dust, lint and/or pet hair. Therefore the ODS sensor is reading the Oxygen level as Unsafe for operation. Secondly, the Pilot is dirty and is not allowing the flame to touch the Thermocouple as it should. The way to tell this, is the pilot flame curves upward, rather than being straight and lifts off the Thermocouple.

In addition to the two things I have listed which are the problem 90% of the time, there are 7 more. But rather than list all of them and how to fix the problem, I'm including a link to the Owners Manual for your heater. You can download and print is for now and future reference. Pay close attention to the Troubleshooting Guide. That's where you'll find the other 7 problems and their solutions.

Armed with all this information, I feel confident that you can Troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Please let me know how it works out for you.

Pilot light does light , but as soon as you release the gas knob it goes out

Hi there. You must continue to hold the knob in for at least 30 seconds before releasing. If the pilot still goes out, the "thermocouple" is bad. It's the little tube in the pilot flame. To replace, remove the main burner assembly/pilot. You can get a thermocouple at any hardware store. Ask questions while you are there.
Thanks

When lighting one of the burners, the ingnition knob has to be held down over ten seconds for the flame to stay lit when the knob is released..

Lift the top of the Stove up.
Look for a Small line that goes to the Affected Burner.
At the end of that Line you will see a small Flathead Screw.
Turning That screw Clockwise Adjusts your Pilot Light for that Burner.
Be careful not to Adjust to High, it would just be a Waist of gas.

hope that helped.

Nexgrill patio heater won't stay lit

I called Nexgrill technical support at 1-800-913-8999. They are sending me a new thermo couple to keep the valve open when ignited - so the patio heater will stay on. I needed to give them the serial number (inside the propane tank door) and fax them a copy of the receipt.

Hope this helps.
