Re: Restart always

Sounds like a reload of the operating system, and or your hard drive is corrupt. See if it will boot into safe mode (F8) on startup. You can also run diagnostics on it by holding down the FN key when you push the power button and see what happens.

Hi. I have Dell latitude d610. What does the symbol A inside a lock mean? It's under wifi symbol on front panel. My computer turns on for 3-5 seconds & goes off. thanks

That symbol stands for CAPSLOCK and lets you know if it is on or off. when the light is on means capslock is on. when off capslock is off

Will not boot to Safe Mode

Try to boot from the Resource CD by selecting the <F12> key and select boot from CD/DVD drive. If you tried to run the "Diagnostics" option from the <F12> boot menu and it went to command prompt, there might be an issue with your hard drive or the "Diagnostics" partition is corrupted or missing. If all tests pass using the Resource CD, then your OS is probably hosed. As for the 9 LED light, that just indicates that your numeric keypad is enabled.
