Same issues with not playing the disc

hi all, I have the rc 299 so does my dad biggest mistake buying these units. Biggest load of junk. I have had mine repaied by the local repairer and then about 2 months later it crapped itself again with the error unknown disc or no disc when there is one in the drive. When i sent mine to Lg they repaired it and it seems fine now but no explanation of what was done so i am wondering if it was just a firmware update to fix it or ???????? But my problem now is that my dad's unit is now doing what mine was but his is out of warrenty now if LG knows there are issues with these units why not recall them.
