I just get a black screen when i turn on my ps3 system
When i turn on my system it just show a black screen. I have exactly the same problem.
Turn on the system, tv goes from its blue screen to the PS3s black screen. nothing more. no other grafix just a flat black screen. I am not getting any sound or anything like that either.
the system is almost 6 months old and is not really used very heavily.

sounds like you're using an HDMI cable, and the cable is broken. That's
exactly what happens when HDMI cables break, a few of those 0s and 1s
don't make it to the TV every once and a while, and the TV goes black
and the audio dies.
go to system update and choose online update. an optional ps3 firmware 3.01 fixes this issue
also, I had a similar situation a while back. Anytime I loaded any disk (game
or movie) it would just go black and freeze. I had to do a system reset
(where it reloads everything and you lose your data). You can back
everything up before that and restore it once you are done. It has
worked fine for nearly a year since then.
turn power switch on in the back. red light on in the front, hold the power button until system turns back off. this resets all hardware settings. if this doesn't work and the system is ok (green light) then you have a connection problem to the tv
Ok do not worry this may mean two things crached hard drive or a corrupted hard drive all you have to do is turn it on but let the red ligth be on turn it on do not remove your finger from the button until it go's off again turn it on again keep your finger until it makes a sound but still do not remover your finger untill it makes two sounds after eachouther take your finger of fast nou a screen will apear say restore sestem untill your ps3 works again it take 1-4 trys and if nothing happens you must format it.HOPE I WAS USEFULL PLZZ RATE ME AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELS EMAIL ME TO firstname.lastname@example.org I DO PS1,2,3,DVD PLAYERS AND PC sorry for my spelling i am only 13 and i afrikaans BUT PLZZZ RATE ME..thanks..
ok a long shot but i did read somewere that if u hold down the power button for 10 seconds it detects or calibrates to the current TV that is connected its worth a try if nothing else, if this didnt help sorry but if it did enjoy :)
P.S. i dont know if the console needs to already be running to do this.
Try getting a new AV Option, well actually first startup your PS3, startup your controller, and hit the center PS3 button, because those 2 options are only in the Main PS3 Option, which is accesed and closed through hitting the middle button on your controller. Hope this helped.
