Question about HP Pavilion a310n PC Desktop

1 Answer

Not turning on

I have an HP A310e Desktop PC. I blew it out tonight and when I went to power it back on the light on the power supply was flashing and it wouldn't power on. When I unpluged the mother board the light stayed steady as it is supposed to. Is it the mother board that it bad or could it be the power supply is bad and not providing enough power to run the computer? What are our thoughts and how much for each?

Thanks, I am going to try a power supply tomorrow and hope. If it is the motherboard, where are these available from and how do I find the part number? Is it difficult to change?

Try a different power supply first to see if thats the problem, then if you still get the same symptoms, then its the motherboard thats the culprit.

Power supply would run you between $20-$30 and if its the motherboard then it will between $100-$200 range.

Hp desktop wont start

I think you have more than one problem there. Take it to a local PC repair shop and have them check it out. Five years is a good age for a computer though so you may want to think about buying a new one. Best of the Irish Luck to yer.

Desktop with not turn on, green blinking light on back

Could have blown out your Power Supply to your PC. But I would at least try to unplug your PC and hit the power button to drain of any standing power, and then plug it back in and see if it will turn on. If not you probably at the very least blew out your power supply.

You can find power supplies online (newegg or tigerdirect) for less than $40, sometimes with free shipping. I would guess that is the problem. Hopefully the power supply went out and it didn't ruin the motherboard.

Most likely a power supply failure. It apears that the power supply is not putting out all necessary voltages.

Replace the power supply

Problem getting computer to turn on

Try removing the power lead from the back of pc for atleast 15 minutes and re-connect. It may be a power supply unit fault that is showing connection but not powering the motherboard. Open up the side of pc and check the main leads that come from the power supply unit to the motherboard connection are'nt dissloged in any way, or unplug the motherboard connector and place in again this might re-set it.
