SOURCE: It wont turn on, And the zoom is extended.

I had exactly the same problem. Lens stayed open, when powered on you get three beeps and nothing. I found when I pulled the lens out a little harder it gave a little click. When I powered on it worked perfectly.

SOURCE: Camera Stuck with lens out. Beeps

I dropped the camera on the table a couple of times, twisted the front of it. Suddenly the lens retracted into the camera, the beeping quit, and now I can take pictures again. The Samsung website is horrible.

SOURCE: I turn camera on. Lens comes out. beep 3 times. turns off.

Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second, the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off. The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old. HELPP :(

SOURCE: The camera beeps 3 times on startup and then shuts down...

You have dirt trapped in the lense mechanism. use compressed air can to blow it out then turn camera off ans slap it into the palm of your hand a few times and turn on again to test if it has cleared. This is not a joke it actually works. Lots of these types of cameras suffer from this problem and I have fixed them using this method. Passed on By a Canon Tech!!! It certainly worked for mine . Be persistent some work immediately others take several goes of blowing and slapping face down

SOURCE: lens is stuck out, camera makes a three beep noise

I'd say the lens gears are stripped or at least out of alignment. Probably due to dropping it on the lens while extended. The camera will have to be sent to the factory or a factory authorized service center. You can also call the customer service folks for help but that will most likely be in vain.

Three beeps when i try to turn it on

i had the same problem a while back. I fooled around with my camera lens a bit and it turned out that one side of the lens was sticking out a bit. I pressed down on this and pushed the power button and it worked. The next time I turned it on the same thing happened but if you keep doing the same thing it should work.

Hope this helps!

Lens stuck open

hey, I had the same problem when I accidentally droped my camera, some parts in the mechanism are probably broken or jammed.

Most likely repairs required.

CAMERA WILL NOT TURN ON--JUST BEEPS

hi,

Cameras belonging to the S Series really do have a battery type option that needs to be set up first for proper power connection.

Recommended batteries are just:
- Alkaline (Non-rechargeable)
- Nickel-metal Hydride (Rechargeable)

Just the proper battery type by:

- Pressing MENU/OK button
- Scroll to the right until you are in SETUP 2
- Keep on scrolling down and look for battery type
- Press the right button to pick up on 2 options
like Alkaline and Ni-MH
- Press MENU/OK for changes to be saved
- Keep pressing MENU/OK to get out of the MENU

Once, it's done, camera needs to be turned off for a few seconds
so that settings made will be refreshed with the camera.

As you turn camera on, you're now ready to take many pictures.

ALKALINE (Non-rechargeable) batteries when set to the correct battery type will really take a maximum of 100 pictures.

For the Rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH), when those are fully charged, and the battery type is set to Ni-MH, it will be taking more than a hundred of course.

I hope this help you a lot.

For the lens problem you can try the below method:

Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in and turn the camera on.
Fix #2: Remove the batteries, then remove the memory card. Then install the new batteries, when you turn it on it should come back to life. Error E30 means you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the memory card and turn it on one last time.

Fix #3: Insert the cameras AV cable, and turn the camera on in picture review mode. Have no idea why this would work, except that quite a few people have reported some success with it.

Fix #4: Place the camera flat on its back on the kitchen table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.

Fix #5: Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum cleaner.

Now we're entering into the realm of potentially damaging your camera in conducting the fix. Take care when conducting the following two fixes.
Fix #6: Repeatedly tap the padded/rubber usb cover on a hard surface with the intent of dislodging any particles that may be jamming the lens. A lot of people have reported success with this method. HOWEVER, there is some potential for damaging or dislodging internal components with this method, such as unseating ribbon cables.

Fix #7: Try forcing the lens. Many people have also reported success with this method. HOWEVER, there's obviously some potential for damaging your camera by using this method. Variations include pulling, pushing, rotating or twisting on the lens barrel while hitting the power button. Another variation includes looking for uneven gaps around the lens barrel, and then pushing on the lens barrel side that has the largest gap. While doing these, listen for a click that indicates that the lens barrel guide pins have reseated in their guide slots. If you hear this click, immediately stop and try the camera. The following photo illustrates unseated guide pins that would cause a lens error.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

My samsung l830 camera lens is stuck open and when i press the power button it beeps 3 times and remains blue then does nothing

If the lens on the camera is stuck out, look to see if it's a little crooked. If it is, try to gently straighten it. If it still won't retract, try to gently push it in as you turn the power on.
If it won't turn on (the green light blinks and it beeps 3 times) push and hold the 'power' button and the 'play' button at the same time for a few seconds - it worked for my S730. Good luck!

Samsung Digimax S600 is stucked in off position

I've had this with a diff model of Samsumg (V10). The problem with mine was that the lens wasn't opening, which was causing the beeping. I held the camera with lens facing down and when I pressed the power button I lightly tapped the camera against the palm of my other hand. The lens extracted.

I have more problems with the lens now but that may have something to do with me dropping it later:(

My lens won't retract or open and beeps 3 times and shuts off

I had a Polaroid i531 that would beep 3 times then shut down & the lens wouldn't retract.

I fixed it like this:
  1. Inspect the lens from all angles and you'll see that the lens assembly is out of sync. (My was looking upward ever so slightly)
  2. Using gentle finger pressure, press in the opposite direction of the abnormal lens direction
  3. I heard a snap, then I powered the camera on.
  4. Camera now works.

Try turning it on while manually pulling the lens assembly ever so lightly. Also try the same thing pushing it in, if that doesn't work.
Hope that works. Ed
