Hello, I have a HP Pavilion dv6449us laptop. It is under 2 months old. Recently I spilled Gatorade on my desk while the laptop was running, I did not notice the spill for some time. Upon my discovery I powered down the machine and cleaned up the spill. When I powered the machine back on, the HP symbol was there, then a black screen appeared with the words "No operating system found." I could not get any keys to respond other than the power switch and crl, alt, delete to reboot the machine. When rebooting the same cycle would appear.
Would you have any suggestions?
I can select F10 on the boot-up process and have tried to run a diagnosis on the hard drive but the same message presented itself 'no operating system found'.
Thank you.
That error usually indicates one of two things, your file system is corrupt and the master boot record or partition tables have corrupted.... or, in light of a liquid being spilled, some possibly got into the laptop.
I'm not sure right off the top of my head, but I think the hard drive has an access door on the bottom. Which you can remove a couple screws to remove the cover. I would visually inspect under that cover, and other covers if any while your at it, to check for any signs that liquid got in it.
