We have put the ants in their colony but don't know if the ants get air if you close the colony or if we need to add extra food or water.

I can't help you with the coffee maker but I can help you with the ants. Mix boric acid with a little wet cat food and leave it out that will kill the ants back at the colony they carry back the food and the whole Colony ends up eating it and dies if they are sweet ants mix the boric acid with sugar water and make a paste same thing will happen

How many ants can i put in the uncle milton light-up gel colony

According to their site, one vial of ants (contains 30) should be enough. But they also sell 3 vials (90 ants). I would assume you shouldn't put anymore than that. You can contact the by email or telephone to check for specifics:http://unclemilton.com/contact/

We have had our ants for 3 days and they don't seem to be interesed in making tunnels. We put in four holes, like the instructions, but they are just staying on the surface. Help?

According to the Uncle Milton site, ants are much less active in the winter. This is probably why your ants are not being active and tunneling.

Are you supposed to feed the ants?

According to unclemilton.com, if you have a gel ant farm with about 30 ants, you do not need to feed them. If you have sand or dirt, you need to add about a crumb or so of bread a week.and a few drops of water (3)

The ants are not doing anything except for trying to get out. We started three holes for them. Also what do we feed them?

If it;s a gel colony, you don't need to feed them. The gel serves as food and water for the ants. It may be that the ants in your Uncle Milton gel ant farm are not tunneling because they are not used to their new environment, as they are used to dirt. It will take them a little bit of time to get acclimated and then they should start moving.

We got the ants for my grandsons ant farm but because of snow in the NW will not be able to deliver them to him (he has the ant farm) for 2-3 days. They seem very sluggish. Should I put them in another...

According to the Uncle Milton site, they are probably sluggish because it is winter and that is when they are less active. In the meantime, I would contact their customer support, because they recommend putting the ants into the gel farm as soon as possible. Try to create your own farm with dirt and give them 3 drops of water and a crumb of bread in the meantime.
