Our model #384 runs, then stops. It was used when we got it, but if we had to replace something we will, it's just that I don't know what to replace.
Unfortunately the failure can be occuring in several places on this train. The wall power supply, the track command connector, the Treetop Tender or the loco itself.
The REALLY bad news is that New Bright does NOT offer any repair service or replacement parts for thier product. After the 60 day replacement warranty it either works or goes in the garbage.
However.. when the train stops, try taking a volt meter set to measure DC and place one lead on one the inside of the track and one on the outside of the track. You should be reading about 10.5V DC. (flip the leads if it comes out -10.5V)
If the you still have power on the track, then problem is in the treee top tender or the loco itself.
Look on the treetop tender between the wheels. there is an electric motor brush located between each of the wheel pairs. Make sure that they are making contact with the track. This is where the cars and the loco get thier power from the track.
These wear out pretty quick and once again, there are no replacements available.
