Does your pc make a different noise than usual when you turn it on? If it sounds like clicking (loud) then your hard drive has crashed. You will need to replace it.

Dell Inspiron 600m: No Boot Device. I'm a computer

Have you tried resetting the BIOS defaults? In doing so, it will force IDE re-detection and often resolve vague boot issues.

Moments ago was working fine...rebooted and now it says missing operating system. Help

Hi,
its possible that the hard drive has partially disconnected.
Turn of your laptop, the remove the small plastic cover over the hard drive area. Remove the screws that mount the drive, remove the hard rrive and re-install in reverse. (searh Compa website for info, or consult your user manual)
Try to reboot your laptop.
If this doesn't work it can be one of 2 things:
a. a virus
b. a corrupted boot sector (or Master Boot Record aka the MBR)
Find a friendly computer geek friend..they will sort it out for you.
Feel free to add more info to here and I will give you some more advice.
Cheers,
Steve

Computer freezes when I start it

Hi,

Please make sure the boot device is correct from BIOS.

If correct please boot your system from Windows XP bootable CD and choose recovery option in Command Mode.

run the command

chkdsk /f C:

Check the result and let me know if any error comes.

My computer is sayin non sysyem disk what does that mean

That means that either the system is corrupted or the hard disk is faulty.

You will need to reinstall the system using a recovery disk or a generic windows system disk.

You can purchase a full recovery disk from HP for about $20.

Hard drive

Sounds like a bad hard drive. Back up all your data.
If your drive is making clicking sounds .. do it quickly or you will loose everything when the drive stop working altogether.

Probably the hard-drive has gone bad.. First try a complete re-install of windows (you will lose all saved data on the hard-drive, so if you can, back up all important files first)..

If that doesn't work, you need to purchase a new hard-drive
