BROKEN adapter PLUG IN ON SUPER NINTENDO

I cannot make a tight connection with the power adapter because the plug in on the super nintendo has cracked and a chipped piece came off. It will not power on when I plug it in.

The dc jack where you plug in the ac adaptor is worn out which is why it is chipping and also why you can't make a good enough connection for the ac adaptor so you can turn on the Super Nintendo.

What needs to happen is your SNES needs to have the old dc jack taken off and a new one soldered on.

If you can find another broken SNES that has a good working dc jack then take if off of that one and solder it onto yours and your SNES will work like new.

What causes Nintendo Super NES game console to turn off when playing?

It might be a faulty AC Adapter Cable that stops working when you move the cable or it might be a damaged AC Adapter Port on your console(small plastic part broken off) that will power it off when you move the console.

I just bought a super nintendo off ebay and i went to plug in a ac adapter for it but i looked and i saw that the metal piece that sticks out from the system that goes in the ac adapter plug is missing all...

Well the round metal part where the rf switch is supposed to go into is broken off so you couls use the av cables for SNES and N64 instead of using the rf switch or you could of bought a crappy console then.

We are trying to set up an old super nintendo we have rf adaptor hooked up and its set on right channel but its not showin on tv

probly the connection in the rf adapter is crapped out. there is a cord that is sold with the n64 and gamecube( not sure about the wii) that can connect to the super nintendo. kind of a rounded rectangle plug with a bump at the top that has rca cords ( 3: 1 for video and 2 for sterio sound). look at the back of the nintendo and ull see what im talking about. there should only be 2 outputs. the rf and the other rectangle with a dump one.

the other cord was never sold with the super nintendo just the rf was sold with it.

so if u have a N64 or gamecube you can use their tv input cords

I bought a ac adaptor to my super nintendo, because the adaptor that I'd is a fuckin' fail, so when I bought a new super nintendo adaptor, but I can't see anything on my tv. The conexion is ok. What's up!?

Note: pictured above is the redesigned Super NES. The original Super NES uses the same hookup steps listed below.

Installation Steps:

Locate the Audio/Video inputs on the back of the TV.
Place the yellow end of the Stereo AV cable into the Video "in" on the back of the TV. Connect the red end of the cable to Audio "in" Right. Connect the white end of the cable to the Audio "in" Left. Use a slight twisting motion when inserting each cable and ensure the cables are firmly pressed into the input.
Note: If you have a mono television with only one Audio input, click here for a diagram of how the hook-up will look. The Y-adapter pictured is optional; you can also simply leave the white cable disconnected instead.

Connect the rectangular (gray) plug of the Stereo AV cable into the "multi out" connector on the back of the Control Deck.
After the system is connected to the TV:

Insert the Game Pak firmly into the Control Deck.
Plug the Controller(s) into the front of the system. Use the far left port for player one.
Plug the AC Adapter into the back of the system . Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
Slide the Power Switch on (toward Game Pak).
Turn on the TV and locate the input select. It is often called: input select, AUX (auxiliary), Line, Line In, Input, Source, Select, In, or EXT (external). Switch the input select to show the Nintendo game.
The game image should now be displayed on the screen. You are ready to play!

I have just found my old super nintendo. Tried to set it up but im unsure how to do so. Can you give me step by step how to set it up?

Not to be rude but are you serious?
Do you have the SETUP MANUAL, it tells you how to.
If not then, follow these steps.

First, plug controllers to the front of the super nintendo.
Second, plug in ac adapter(power) to the back of the super nintendo(round hole).
Third, plug in video cable
-if it has a red, white, and yellow plug it into back of super nintendo and the front of the t.v.
-if it has a grey box with a wire coming out of it, plug it into the back of super nintendo and back of the t.v. where you will have to screw it in by twisting it to the right.

Now if its the three different colored wires, then it will be on the first video channel.
If it screws into the back of the t.v. then it will be on channel 3 or 4 depending on what the channel switch says on the grey box.

Put the game in with the picture facing you all the way in.
Now hit start and you should be good to go. If you get a black screen try taking the game out and blowing on it then putting it back in after all it is old!

And there you have it!

Plastic part broke off my super nintendo where you plug the power cord in the back.

This is a common problem with the original version of the SNES console.
Unfortunately the fix is not an easy one. I fix these in my shop but I have done dozens of them. It requires soldering. There are two ways to fix it. You can replace the broken part which is soldered to the motherboard or you can solder on wires for a new receptacle.
To get the replacement part you would need to buy a broken SNES off eBay or somewhere and disassemble it to remove the needed part. If you find a busted SNES with a working motherboard you MIGHT be able to just swap it. I say might because I have found at least three versions of motherboards in these things and the mounting points inside the case are different for each of them.
To bypass the plug altogether you would need to find a new plug at Radio Shack and wire it up to the motherboard and attach it to the case so that the plug can be hooked up. You could also cut the plug off of the AC adapter and solder the adapter wires directly to the motherboard.
Like I said it is not an easy fix. It also has a high probability of not working if you do not know what you are doing. It might be best to just buy a working console from a reputable seller and sell yours as broken.
Good Luck.

It could be one of two things.

First and most likely is the AC Adapter is shot. It could have a broken wire in the plug or the AC Adapter itself could be bad. The quickest way to check for this is to take it to an electronics store like Radio Shack. They should be able to tell you if it is bad.

Second it could be the console itself. Look at the receptacle for the AC Adapter. There should be a small round plastic piece with a hole in the center of it that the plug fits around and in. These often break but you can usually get the console to turn on if you wiggle the plug around. It could also be an internal problem with the console. The only way to check for this is to make sure you have a good AC Adapter. If the light comes on the console is good. I have never seen a burned out light.

Either way the bad part would need to be replaced. Neither one is cost effective to fix and both are still readily available on various websites.
