Question about Sony KP-53HS30 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
The TV will not turn on and the standby/timer red light is flashing 6 times. I have tried unplugging the TV for 1 minute then plugging back in with no improvement. I unplugged overnight and plugged in with no improvement. I tried turning the TV off and on while holding down the reset button on the remote control with no improvement. could it be a lamp problem? I have problem, the indicator blinking 6 times, ihave only 5v stand by
6 blinks, then a pause, and then 6 blinks again would mean Low B OCP/OVP (Overcurrent/Overvoltage)". This could mean that either the +5 line is overloaded (A, B boards), or that the +5 line is shorted (A, B boards).
Commonly, this is fixed by replacing the thermal fuse. You will need to remove the lamp, and then remove the fuse (it may be behind the lamp), and get it replaced. This in most cases will fix the problem with the 6 blinks.
It may be safer to allow a qualified TV service person to do this however just in case there are dangerous voltages.
Hope this is of some help and that you get your TV working again soon!
Best of luck,
