Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook
The screen is visible, but it looks like the backlight is not working. It is just dim, and only on the left 1/3 of the screen I sent it to support and they changed the backlight. It was ok for a while, but now it is dark again. Besides after that it made a noise and a screen flicker a couple of times. Last time, the one time noise that sounds like a small electrical shock sounded and the screen became completely dark, tho I could still see the window I was working with using the light from the room. As I was trying to save my files in the dark the battery died and I plugged the AC adapter. I turned the pc on again and the Dell logo from startup was already visible, tho the screen has the left side dark again. Does anyone believe the inverter is the problem? The support guy told me he tested my inverter and it was good...
Ok , i have had this problem on bolth my dell inspiron laptops , on a 6400 and a 1525 . the 6400 had the lower left corner all dark and the 1525 was split right down the center . i fix bolth of em in a really simple way , turn on ur pc and go into windows , press the blue Fn button and the down arrow untill ur brightness from ur backlight is completely down . keep it that way with the screen on with a screen saver for about one hour then turn brightness back up but not all the way up cuz in my case the problem hapened again , but when i keep it just one click darker , boom problem fixed . from what i can figuere out is that the inverter aint powerfull enought to power the backlight and tends to over heat , so keeping the backlight a bit lower tend the keep em ok

Can you restart your DELL and keep pressing F2 to get into the bios. Is problem the same in the bios?
If fault is visible in the bios do static discharge.
Turn off DELL take out Battery and unplug from mains. Disconnect all external devices.
When this is done, press power button and hold for 20 seconds.
Connect DELL to the mains without battery and turn on. Go into bios again. If fault still visible you need to replace either Inverter or LCD as this might be one of the lamps in LCD (not sure if this model is double lamp.
Please leave your feedback if issue is solved or not.

The inverter powers the backlight so my initial thought is the inverter. And they don't cost a whole lot usually so it would certainly be worth a try. If it's not the inverter, check to make sure all cables are tight then the next step is the screen.
