Downloading pictures from memory card

When I try to download pictures from memory card it says that it cannot get device information but I am able to download pictures that are stored on the camera.  How can I get the pictures off the memory card?

I have exactly the same problem as Tiffini with the memory card that I'm using now. Other memory cards work fine. So I'm assuming the problem lies in the memory card. With this one I have to save pictures from the memory card to the camera and then download them to my computer. Then I have to erase the ones I saved on the camera, save some more and download again. It's a very lengthy process. What gets me is that when I first installed this memory card and took a bunch of pictures, they downloaded fine. It just seem to happen suddenly one day out of the blue. I don't know if I or someone else accidently set something on the camera to prevent the memory card from being read or what, but it only doesn't work when I try to download pictures from the memory card while it's in the camera. I have to take the card out and download the pictures I saved on the camera itself to the computer. I haven't tried anything else yet but I am open to suggestions. Thanks! And hurry please with an answer! -Barbara

Not sure if this will help, but after I used a reader/writer, I could no longer see the pics that were on my memory card unless I had it in the camera. A reader/writer reformats, so you will need to reformat the memory card to upload to your pc.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

This is an old posting but I thought I'd show some light on the situation anyway. When you download pictures from the camera to the computer you also need to eject or safely remove the card/ stop the card don't just remove it from the computer or disconnect the USB cable it will corrupt the memory card(s). Once you have the pictures safely on thee computer Hard drive you also need to format the memory cards doesn't matter if it's a Fuji, Olympus Canon Nikon anybodies digital camera the memory cards must be formatted before new picture files can be written to the memory card again. or maybe i should say written to the card successfully.

How to download pictures to my computer

1. With the included and installed software and a cable you can get all the information with the pictures.
2. By downloading the pictures directly from the memory card (you'll need a card reader) to your computer as regular files.

Downloading

There is an alternate way of downloading images from the memory card from the camera.
Get a USB memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera, insert it into the card reader, then plug the card reader into the USB port of your computer. You will now see card reader as an external memory device, open the folder and copy your photos onto your hard drive.

Ativa memory card

The card is probably formatted with a FAT16 filesystem. Try reformatting the card with a FAT32 filesystem.

Downloading to computer

Do you have anything that can read memory cards? Try taking the card out of the camera and connecting it directly to your computer using a memory card reader or even a different camera. If you do get this to work, get all the picture off of it, and then format the card. To format the card, right click it in My Computer, and select format. It should work in your camera again after this.
