If you ctrl-alt-delete and view processes in task manager you might try to isolate anything that may be running in the background and using up alot of your RAM. It may also be indicative that you have some type of malware; maybe try to run the freeware programs spybot or adaware and remove any virii found.

If you want new RAM it looks like you need to go for PC2700 DDR SDRAM DIMMs; your computer can hold a maximum of 2 GB.

You may find some RAM on eBay for relatively cheap; if you want it new I would goto memorystock http://www.memorystock.com/memory/CompaqPresarioSR1110NX.html

Good Luck!

Compaq presario s5100nx very slow windows xp

1GB of RAM is not enough to run Windows XP and the programs you installed efficiently. Removing unnecessary programs should make more memory available for necessary programs but it will never be fast. Crucial.com is a great resource for memory upgrades but I don't think you should invest in a computer that old with a completely unsecure and unsupported operating system (XP).

I hope this helps.

Compaq presario sr1320nx slow virtulal memery low

Each program that is simultaneously running on your computer is using some of the RAM. If the sum of the sizes of those programs is larger than the total amount of RAM installed on your computer, then Windows writes some of the contents of RAM to the disk-drive (compare to moving a book off the kitchen table onto the bookshelf, to make room for a different book on the table).
When Windows is finding that "too much" of the RAM has been written onto the disk-drive (because you are running "too many" programs at the same time), then you get the "low virtual memory" message. Windows will reserve additional space on the disk-drive, but this will take up to 1 minute.

After I upgraded RAM from 512 MB to 2 G, my computer can not resume from stand by mode.

1.Do you know what the Maximum TOTAL Amount is for your ram?
2.Do you know what the Maximum Amount is for EACH ram slot?
3.What is the computer manufacturers name, model name, and model number?
(Example: Compaq Presario SR1110NX.
Compaq: Computer manufacturers name
Presario: Model Name
SR1110NX: Model Number

(Not trying to insult your intelligence with Number 3 above)

Reason for asking Number 3?
Let's take an example. Let's say your computer has a Maximum Total Amount for ram memory, that is 2GB.
EACH ram slot's Maximum Amount is 1GB, and you have two ram slots.
If you install a single stick of 2GB ram in Slot 1, chances are it isn't going to work.

If I know what computer you're referring to here, then I can give more of an exacting solution.

I have lcd monitor benq 751which has inbuilt sound system, but after reinstallation of xp, the sound is not produced at all.

You need to go to the website for your computer, then click on Support. In Support type your computer name, Model Name, and Model Number.

(Example:
Lets say I have a Compaq Presario SR1110NX.
I would go to HP.com/Support.
Hp bought out Compaq.
I would type the computer name,
Compaq.
Model Name,
Presario.
Model Number,
SR1110NX

You will find this information on the back of a desktop computer, next to the Windows Product Key, holographic sticker.

OR,
it may be up on the side, {Top}, of the computer case)

When you get to the page, click on Software and Driver Downloads.

In Software and Driver Downloads, look for the Audio file. If there is more than one listed, click on the newest version. Look at the date.
There should be a small window that will pop-up, and you click on an empty circle to the left of -> Save. Then go below, and click on Save.

If you do not have your downloads set to go to your My Documents folder, (Start>My Documents), this audio download will go to your desktop screen. Close all windows, then Double-click on that file icon. Follow the instructions in the Installation Wizard.
