Question about Cameras

1 Answer

HI a friend of mine has a panasonic video camera, specifically the PV- L452D. Her camera is broken, and she lives in Cuba, where parts are unavailable. She wants me to buy her the necessary part, and bring it down to her during my next trip. Her camera's screen isn't functioning, apparently, she needs to replace the band that connects the screen to the body. The part number is LSCQ-0555-A, according to her. I have spent hours online and calling Panasonic. Nobody can find or sell me the part. any advice? thanks! Ms. Viddal

    Hi Ginko

hi, thanks for ideas, I agree my friend did not have the right part number.  I already tried calling the PartsStore, a few days ago.  They do not have any kind of tech one may speak to on the phone. All PartsStore offers is Customer Serv Reps who can order you a part IF you know the exact correct part number.  I'll try calling Encompass tomorrow when they re-open, but if its a big corporation, I have little hope. Calling both Panasonic and PartsStore was useless. No one at either can give ANY opinions about what part my friend may need,  all they can do is act like robots. They can my credit card number and make an order, that's it.

You suggested the part she needs MIGHT be LSJA0555
I looked online, and it seems like a kind of connector cable, not a ribbon cable, that is, not something internal that connects the screen to the body of the camera.

Not sure where I can call to try and get actual advice about the part. My friend, living in Cuba, has no real access to internet. So, she can't do any research online. My friend is a professor. The camera was a gift from a foreign  scholar that visited Cuba, and gave her the broken camera, which, if she can get it fixed, is great, since she would have no way on a Cuban salary to purchase anything like a camera (Cuban professors make the equivalent of about $20-25 a month!)

I'll try Encompass when they open tomorrow. If they can't give any suggestions, I'll email you again to see if we can come up with any ideas.  I called a few camera places in town, here in Boston where I live, thinking i might find a live person who can just give me a bit of advice, but everyone just referred me to Panasonic.  I might try a few more.

    thanks

Part number LSCQ-0555-A is wrong.
However the part description is clear, It is called LCD ribbon cable.
I think that the part number may be LSJA0555 Also for sale here .

The best thing to do is contacting PartStore or Encompass parts to verify that this is the right part, or to order the right part for this model. They have all spares for this camcorder.
Try also UED. see if your friend can spot the right part number here: UED.net Catalog or here Part list.

Regards.

    Hi Grete,

I know how things work in Cuba.

By the way , the part number that your friend gave you is wrong, and Panasonic does not make publicly available the exploded view with part list. I will try suggesting possible ways to proceed.

Send the teo part list here to your friend, and see if he can find right number: UED.net Catalog or here Part list.

Get a Pana from Ebay, you can find the vey same same discontinued model for $39, and give it to your friend as a present:
Panasonic Palmcorder PV-L452d SD + Extras! CLEAN!

Contact Advance camera repair, and check if they can ship you the part, it may be more expensive than regular replacement price.

I hope this ideas can help you.

    Regards.

Typical CCD sensor problem ...replace CCD block. This is normally due to a faulty component being installed so even if your camera is out of warranty try to have it done free of charge.
