Aux out routing

Hi there, I'm having a problem with my Tascam 788. I use it for gigs to play backing tracks. I have a click track on track 1 and the backing parts in stereo on 7 and 8. I send tracks 7 and 8 to the aux output so I can send the audio to front of house without the click track. The drummer then has the machine by the side of him and uses the headphone socket to monitor both backing and click tracks. We have just come off tour where this set up worked perfectly. We started rehearsal the other day after a couple of weeks off and I went to play the backing track and there was no sound, I checked all the routing and everything is the same, also the only way to monitor through the headphone socket is if track cue is selected. None of the other monitor options produce a sound through the headphone socket. I tried starting a new project and recorded one track. I then tried to route that through the aux out and again no sound. I have checked the leads and they are all working fine. I have figured a way around this so I can still use it in a live situation (I have routed 7&8 through the stereo out and have created a track cue mix for the drummer seen as that is the only way you can hear anything through the headphone socket now) but am puzzled as to why this has stopped working as nothing has changed since I last used it. Sorry for the long question but any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may sound really stupid on my part, but if the auxillary out requires phantom power did the phantom power switch get changed possibly?

I recorded drums to the internal click track/metronome and drums are in time with metronome when i play it back with the click from the start of the song. BUT, if i stop in the middle of the song and...

I'd say the click track starts from exactly when you hit play even if you've hit play not right on the beat. There might be a setting or preference that can fix this.

Try rewinding back to be right on the beat and see if it syncs with the click

Can the write speed of the internal cd burner be changed on the tascam 2488 mk ii to produce a more accurate audio cd . if not how is the write speed determined .thanks Andy

The actual disc speed in the unit has nothing to do with the speed that a CD plays back.

Read page 68 of your user manual for variable speed and pitch setup and changing.

Buying a used Tascam 788. P.O. lost the power supply. How can I get a replacement? Couldn't find anything on TASCAM site.

Hi, Provided there is a tag on the back showing the units model number, on that same tag should be the power requirements for it-buying a universal power supply, or even a used working one to another piece of equipment is acceptable as long as the polarity is the same. Polarity is located right next to where the power supply plugs into the unit. It will be a " circle with a dash inside it with a line connecting to a C looking symbol with a line coming out of it connecting another circle with a plus sign inside. " that is a typical outer ground/inner positive marking. a power supply will be marked the same. If they match the polarities are the same. Next make sure the power supply says the proper DC voltage and Milliamps or amps-Ma/A example: 2400Ma, 2.4a. I hope this helps and thank you for asking FixYa, good luck and don't forget to write back and let me know how I did, Prodzilla.

Where I found the Pan funcion?

Here is a link to the manual:http://www.tascam.com/products/2488mkii;9,16,109,19.html Go down to Resources, Documents. As far as I know you have to map your input to a track. If you want Stereo you have to use 2 tracks. The owners manual explains it better than I can here.

How can i assign diferent effects to indivdual tracks?

It's tough. For all that TASCAM touts this is not a user friendly system. I find that assigning compression to one track, removes my reverb from every track. It seems only one effect can be used at a time, and that effect effects them all. Tascam sucks. Never again!

The click track on my TASCAM 2488 Mk 2 won't click

There is likely an amplitude setting (probably available in a menu) for the click. Make sure that is turned up.

Problems setting midi channels using KN3000 and Cubase

If you are sequencing midi tracks you can imbed the patch change in the track and the midi channel assignment and when the sequence plays the info will be sent to the keyboard. Do you have it set to receive Omni?

The unit will not boot up.

Hi Jerry, I had that same message come up and like you I hadn't used the mkii that much...I was able to reach a tech at tascam and he gave me the following advice and it should reset the unit;.

Here's what he said to do; first you power off and then you hold down the following buttons;

quick rout button....shift button....send button...and the shut down button.....while holding down these 4 buttons turn on your unit.....when it says initialize..let go and hopefully it will reset....

Hope this helps JP
