Re: internet drops for a second then comes right back

Have you hooked your computer up directly to the source of your internet (such as a cable or DSL modem) and see if you have the same issue?

A "power cycle" will usually fix this issue. Remove power cable from your modem and your router. Allow them both to be unplugged for at least 5 minutes, then plug both of them back in. Allow a few minutes for both of the devices to reboot and allow your PC or device to acquire internet access again and establish an IP address and you should be good to go. Patience is necessary, if you skip steps it can get frustrating. If you still have the problem, you may have a hardware problem with your router and may need a new one, a modem or other hardware problem with your PC, and it could be a problem with your ISP.

Hi, my router won't le tme connect to the internet. I have unplugged it, waited a few minutes and then plugged it back in. Re-booted it, and still no connections. Any suggestions?

you probably need to unplug power on your router too.

Unplug both power plugs and wait 20 seconds. Then plug back power to your MODEM FIRST.

Wait 1 minute to make sure the connection get an ip address.

After that, put the power back to your router.

Wait 20 seconds and try the connection with your computer.

If it doesn't work, restart your computer.

Hope this helps!

D-Link Router, Model DI-524 is not able to register IP address. My cable company did maintenance yesterday and this morning unable to link to internet with Router hooked up to modem. Apparently no good...

Sometimes when ISP's do maintenance the DHCP servers re-assign new IP numbers. When you have symptoms like yours it's because the modem, router, and computer are working off previously assigned old IP numbers that may have then been re-assigned to other customers modems after the maintenance. Same with the router. Rebooting your equipment causes them to pull new IP numbers and things start working again.

So, usually a reboot will fix it. Turn off the computer(s). Turn off or unplug the power cables from both the modem and the router. Keep them off for 3 or 4 minutes. Leave the data cables connected. Plug the power to the modem back in FIRST. Give it a few minutes to come up. Any lights should be green. If the lights don't come up green on the modem you'll need to call the cable company.

Second, plug in the router and let it come up. Again, lights should be green. Lastly, turn on the computer.

That should do it. If not, please post back. There are other things to try.

I have a ZyXEL P-660R-D1 router connected to my Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz Broadband router and I'm having a few problems. First, the internet light on my ZyXEL won't light up EVER. I am not sure if that...

First of, unplug your Linksys and go right into your ZyXEL, (you might need to run a cable) Run that way for a while, If your not cut off then it's your router. Do this first and we can go from there.

Internet intermittently going down

Before going out and buying a new router, you should try reseting this one.

There should be a small pin hole on the back of the router, stick a pin in there to set it back to factory settings.

You can also check the WAN connection to make sure it isn't loose.

Wireless drops off after 30 minutes, comes back with reset, then drops off in 25 minutes, and so on. wired internet ok.

This is a problem with the firmware of your router since the wired part is working fine, to correct one you need to do a firmware upgrade on the router you can get the latest firmware from Dlink web site.........

Suddenly stop working

First thing to do if you lost the internet connection on the router is to do a power cycle, you need to turn off the modem and router for a minute then after that power the modem back oin and wait for about 30 a minute then power the router back and check now if internet is already working, if still no internet with the router you need to press and hold the reset button of the router for 20 seconds and run again the setup CD for it....

Internet Connection drop outs on Belkin ADLS2+ modem router

Try to call your internet service provider. They should most likely resolve your problem. Or, disconnect everything. Plug the cable wire to the back of your modem. Give it 30 seconds. Plug in the ethernet cord from your router to your modem. Plug in the power adapter to your modem and give it 1-2 minutes to start up. Next, Plug the power to your router. Give about 1 minute. Go onto your computer and hit the start menu, go to the control panel. Look for internet connection and click on it. Find you internet connection, right click, and hit properties. Click on TCP/IP. Make sure your settings are on automatic. Then try your internet.
