Dual Infinite switch:--
Connect Volt-ohms meter to
H1 and H2. ----
Measure the following for voltages at
LO, MED, HI:
H1 to H2
---------------------
Approximate
Time On Time Off
LO 8% 92%
MED (4-5) 35% 65%
HI 100% 0%
240 VAC, if not replace switch.
---------------
http://www.fixya.com/uploads/images/C882E31.JPG
----------------------------------
connect P-1 Red wire from the power source to the external switch. connect the P-2 Black wire to the next switch. connect the 2 Red wires to the element. connect the S-1 Black jumper wire to P-1. connect 4-A White wire to the element. connect the S-2 Orange wire to the switch light. connect the #4 yellow wire to the element.
You should have received a wiring instruction sheet with the new switch. The L2 will need to be wired according to these notes from the instructions:
*On units with a compound connection, the two red wires must be separated. Locate the right front switch connection (L2). The red wire routed from the right rear element/switch will remain, but the red wire routed from the left rear element/switch must be disconnected, reterminated and connected to position 2 on the new dual switch.
*On units with an L2 piggyback connection, the two red wires must be separated. Locate the red wire routed to the L2 supply and connect it to position P2 on the new dual switch. Locate the red wire routed to the element and connect it to position 2 on the new dual switch.
*On all other applications, the wire connected to the element should terminate to position 2 on the new dual switch.
Follow the instructions on the sheet for the wiring of the other wires. I'm showing that the L1 black wire goes to P1. A black jumper wire goes from P1 to S1.
thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

I just went thru this problem. There are TWO possible switch replacement parts. one is 12002422 and was my correct replacement number.
12002125 was the WRONG part..would not work no matter how you wired it. the failed switch being replaced was part number 7403p406-60. 7403p851-60 will NOT work.
my serial # was 12284711qz
call Jen air customer support and give your serial # and switch part # to get the correct part and diagram... Jenn air changed parts and wiring in the middle of a run.

My Jenn AirCooktop Model CVE3401 burner problems

The part you need to replace is the switch. The switch is housed under the top and connects to the dial you are turning.
The switch for the dual burner is 12002125, and 74011242 for the single burner.

The single burner switch runs about $20.00 and the dual runs about $50.00 for the parts

Just replaced infinite switch part # 12002125 on Jenn-aire JED8430 cooktop. Now burner will only come on HIGH and does not cycle.

Hello- First of all, congratulations on getting it out, apart, and back together again! There are two types of switches for this cooktop. One for the dual, other three are single. Wires can be a trick sometimes. Replacement switches look different sometimes, but work the same. If part is correct, check wire connections at contact points. Lightly crimp any loose ones. Partselect.com has the wiring diagram for JED8430.  Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. - Thanks- ED

I need instructions for wiring in replacing a dual burner switch on a CVE3400B cooktop. The replacement switch is different from the original. Do you have a diagram for the new switch that shows how to...

We followed the instructions that came with the switch that addressed a "compound wiring" configuration. We also used the black jumper wire as shown in the instructions.
We got to this solution in a trial by error manner though, because the three of us working the problem were convinced the stovetop was wired in a "piggyback configuration" and tried that road first. It would have been helpful if the instructions had included an explanation of the switch manufacturer's interpretation of "compound" and "piggyback" configuration.

My Jenn air SVD48600P heating element dose not heat

Hi. I believe this info. may assist you in getting your bake and broil up and running:

When your heating element burns out, you have to replace it because they are not repairable. If, when the heating element burns out, the infinite switch that controls it also fails, you have to replace it too.

Hi there, we have replaced dual infinite switch on our jennair range and cannot figure out the correct wiring for the new 12002125 switch....can you help...???

Follow the instructions below from partselect:

Attach the black wire(s) from the old switch (terminal 2) to the new switch terminal P1. Also attach the jumper cable to P1 and "jump" it to S1.

Attach the orange wire (old switch terminal 5) to S2
Attach the yellow wire (old switch terminal 4) to 4a
Attach the tan/(white?) wire (old switch terminal 3) to terminal 4 on the new switch
Attach the single red wire from the right front element to terminal 2 on the new switch.
Attach the 'compound' red wires (the ones that come from the left rear/outlet connection and is also attached to the right rear switch) to terminal P2 on the new switch.
There is no need to separate the compound red wires.

Best regards.

Stove top dual infinite switch

If the new switch is a substitute, should have come with instructions.
If no instructions, I would suggest matching the markings on the switch next to each terminal.eg, match terminal marking on old switch as L1 to marking on new switch as L1. The markings are industry standard and should match from old switch to new switch.

If you need further assistance, let me know
