Stove cutoff after loud popping sound

Kenmore Smooth Top Stove, Back right heating element has not been working. Today I turned it on by accident and it made a loud popping sound, red flash and the entire stove cutoff. Any suggestions on what to try or look for?

The element burnt in to and arced which is the loud noice you heard red flash of light. It probably tripped the breaker at the electrical panel. Don't turn it back on until someone checks the element and replaces it.

Where are the fuses for the Sears Kenmore stove to elements located on Model C880 675080L0

Most likely no fuses. Either the element or the switch that turns it on is bad. If lighat comes on when you turn on burner the switch is probably ok and the burner went bad.

My Kenmore stove, model #79095680301, was baking some food when it made a loud popping sound. Since then, the control panel doesn't work (and we can't turn on the oven without the control panel). The stove...

Joe,

Sounds like you need to contact a qualified Kenmore technician. It could have burned out an element, wires to the element, etc., but you'll need to be fairly skilled to check these components.

Try contacting Kenmore directly here:

Kenmore oven 317b6034

It sounds like the heating element is faulty. If it has a short, it will have a damaged place. A short causes a build up of amps until it can't take anymore and then a action will happen like a fuse blowing, which it the noise you hear. You can get replacement elements on Amazon fairly cheap. To fix, unplug the stove. Lift and tug on the element to pull it out of the socket. It is usually easy.

I have a Kenmore electric smooth top range that I cannot use the oven on.

it sounds like the clock assy. cooked or there's a shorted wire somewhere, did the bake element crack or short out?this also can take out the clock assy.if the part is 150 dollars that 's not bad, some of them cost 300 or more.good luck with your oven, also you should have an electrician come in and put the stove on it's own electrical line.

My wife heard a loud pop while baking, the oven will no longer bake, the stove top still works so does the clock ect. Elements are fine just don't warm up. I have a kenmore 790, is there a internal fuse...

Check the baking element, sometimes these will make a popping sound if they burn into. Also a lot of your components are behind the knob/clock area.

Kenmore 790.9641240, while using stove top power burner (front left) a loud pop was heard and I thought I saw a blue flash (like an arc) above the pan, the next day received a slight electrical tingle...

Tom (Tchange): I also had arc/pop/short of SSB like g_royer. This was preceded over a few days by the Element ON indicator always ON (with all surface select switches OFF). I found the arc marks and burns on the SSB and replaced it. Element ON indicator went OUT, but like you, element no longer heats. I just checked continuity for each of the relays on the Lockout Board. In spite of the error designation on the Wiring Diagram (swapping P3 with P6), I found an OPEN relay for that element. Now to order the Lockout Board, just like g_royer.

Yesterday I heard a loud pop from inside the stove. Frigidaire smooth top professional series just about 5 years old. Looked inside and my parchment paper had caught on fire which had never happned before...

Is this an oven or the cook top?

A blown oven element is possible. You may still be able to bake but the oven will seem to take forever to warm up. An easy check would be to crank the heat up full bore and put your hand near the top then the bottom. You should feel more intense heat the nearer you get to a working element.
