Question about HP DeskJet 712c InkJet Printer
When installing, I get a message "software being installed for this hardware has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp". "Installing may permanently damage computer". I called HP support and was told this printer is NOT compatible with windows xp. Is this true?? I can't believe there isn't a fix for the problem. Thanks for your input!!
i have just had a quick look and the hp dj712c drivers are included with winxp base build so there should be no need to install any drivers from external source ie cd if you got to add new printer remove the tick from the scan for printer box then select hp and page down till you find the 712c then install all sould work fine

You shouldn't need any software to print to this printer under XP, just let XP find the best or closest match to your printer and install it. It might be a Deskjet 700 or something but it'll work as a printer. The old software was probably for Windows 98.
