Question about AEG T58840 Dryer Electric

1 Answer

The dryer doesn't tumble. Everything else seems to work fine except this! In the beginning I thought that it could be some kind of a belt problem but when I opened the top of the dryer I was not able to locate the problem.

Hi, I have an AEG T35850 tumble dryer. The motor makes a buzzing sound as it slowly gets going when empty. If it has a really hard time getting started, most of the time failing to get going.

The most likely cause is a slipping drive belt from the motor to the drum. Check the tension on the belt, but if the belt is worn, replace it. If the belt has been slipping for a period of time , it will probably be worn out.
Motor making a buzzing sound, is the motor actually turning? If so it is probably the belt.
If motor not turning, try taking the drive belt off and if the motor now runs, you may have seized drum bearings = expensive, buy a new dryer !

The belt may look OK but could be slipping due to stretching.

Hello, I have a problem with the dryer, it doesn't dry to clothes off and everything else works fine. What seems to be the problem and how can I check it on my own? Is it the heather, the thermostat or something else maybe?

The dryer works, heats, tumbles, everything is fine. Except that there is a thump as the drum turns that seems to be coming from the top.

Dryer was working fine before I left on vacation, came home and dryer has power, but it won't tumble. Timer seems to work for a few minutes then everything shuts down

HELLO im18; It may be sensers around the heating element that may have triped because there is a belt BROKEN that drives tumbler, and the air fan as well. You may have to get someone that knows about these things too fix it as well, sorry. John.....!

The dryer will not tumble

do you hear any humming noise? does the heat come on?....no noise. most likely is a thermal fuse....small white fuse usually with two blue wires. humming means broken belt, bad motor or something stuck in blower wheel.

ELECTRIC DRYER WON'T TUMBLE

Possibly the belt assembly. if you open the door and try to turn the drum does it turn with a little resistance, noises? this model has rollers, pulley, and a four groove belt 92 1/4" , sometimes the pulley sticks after yrs of use, belts wear, drum misaligns. the humming should be the motor trying to work.

There is no heat

Disconnect power and access your dryer fuses. Check and test your fuses for "continuity". Most likely, a white thermal fuse. Can possibly be your ignitor or heat element as well. Is your dryer gas or electric?
