Chronic unbalanced washer

Haier HLP21E top load washer unbalances with even the smallest item in it. Will go through the entire spin cycle with just water though. Other posts have mentioned a worn out switch or belt, but not sure where to look for these. Help!

This worked like a charm! Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening? There seems to be a good amount of water coming out of the bottom once the unbalance issue was fixed. Thank you!

There are a couple things you can try. If you have access to the joists under the floor, you may be able to beef up the support. Another thing to try is placing a large sheet of plywood under the washer. It should be 3/4" or even 1" thick and as large as possible to distribute the weight. Use a sheet big enough for both the washer and dryer to sit on. If possible fasten the plywood to the existing floor.

Hope this info helps :)

Check to see if there is some excess water in bottom of the tub - not the tub that the clothes go in but the one that that tub is sitting in. Does that make sense? Anyway, I cut the zip tie that holds the drainage hose, brought the hose as close to the house as possible and siphoned the excess water out of the tub. After this I tried a small test load and it worked no problem. I think the fact that there was this excess water left in the machine made the load too heavy to start the spin cycle.

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

Why doesn't Washer drain water in spin cycle.

If it drains OK during wash and rinse cycles, then the controller is not turning the pump on for some reason.

Haier HLP21E Top Load washer keeps beeping & blinking after water intake. It will rinse out the water when 'rinse' pressed. However it does not 'spin' but instead all three orange lights start blinking &...

No spin with alarm means the unit is out of balance.
The troubleshooting manual reads:
"The safety switch acts. The
spinning cannot work (The
WASH, RINSE and SPIN
indicator flash and alarm goes
off every 10 seconds). If
trouble cannot be solved after
alarming, it will alarm again
every few minutes."

To solve this the load must be balanced:

Make sure to level the machine on a solid floor. Also you may have to redistribute the clothing in the tub for even weight distribution.

Spin vefy fast

A rapid spin cycle is actually a GOOD thing. This is an indication that the gearcase (transmission) and the drive motor are both running strong.

If the washer shudders during the spin cycle the first thing you need to do is check to ensure the washer is properly leveled. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3868923-level_whirlpool_top_loading_washer

The model Whirlpool top loader you have, has an auto-leveler mechanism on the back two legs that can become unlevel periodicailly. You should check the washer level from time to time when it is empty. You need to also make sure the washer is level in ALL directions (front-to-back and side-to-side).

Accidental unbalance problems that can occur from washing blankets, comforters, or heavy loads of towels can also cause the washer to become unlevel and shake. This can also contribute to the level mechanism becoming unbalanced.

Overloading the washer can also cause unbalance problems. Washing blankets or conforters can cause the load weight to shift to one side of the tub. This will result in a tub that shakes violently and bangs against the cabinet. You may have to redistribute the load weight when washing heavy items. This can also occur when washing loads of towels. This is NORMAL as some heavy items do not distribute the weight evenly.

Another problem (which is less common) that can contribute to wash unbalance problems is a weak floor under the washer. If the floor flexes (even the slightest) during the spin cycle, it can cause the washer to bounce or shake. Mobile homes or laundry rooms on the second floor of a home are notorious for having weaker floor structures. This washer has a 35 gallon tub capacity. Coupled with the weight of a wet load and the spinning action, this can put a lot of centrifugal force on a floor.

If you have any questions or concerns, please post back and let me know. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Spin cycle tub becomes unbalance

When the drum gets unbalanced more often then not, there's a few things to check:
1. Check to make sure your machine is level. Check level from side to side and also front to back. The machine has leveling feet to adjust. Make sure they are all in firm contact with the floor when leveled.
2. Wash items that are alike in material. In other words, wash towels with towels, shirts with shirts, etc. If you wash a load of shirts with a towel, it will have a tendency to get unbalanced quickly.
3. Avoid over-stuffing the machine and washing under sized loads. Both of these scenarios will cause a tendency to go out of balance on the spin.
This will solve 75-80% of unbalance issues. Let me know how it goes..
