I was having a problem getting dvd player to work show movies once I hook it up. I guess with tech. now something you don't have to do such as go to aux . What I found out if you go to source on your tv remote and go to AV and press enter it will show the dvd or play games, do no press Av, press enter. Once you finish watching the dvd go back to source go to TV and then press enter and it will bring you back to cable

Red = right sound channel, white = left sound channel and yellow = video (picture) channel. if you have the connections matching these on the tv, then there should be an AV channel on the remote/tv control panel. Select this channel to view, if more than one AV channel on the tv, there will be a number next to the sockets you plugged into. Select the AV number and away you go.
If your tv doesn't have the correct sockets you can buy a converter to use the ariel socket on the tv.

Tying to hook-up my 1100 dvd player to tv I have the three cables white yellow and red audio out to audio in on tv. the recoder plays but no picture. is the a certain channel i should be on?

The connection should be the cable box out to the DVD in, the DVD out to the set. The DVD should have a channel select, Either 3 or 4- set it to the channel that is not used by the cable decoder. which should also have a switch for 3 or 4.

Then all you do is switch between channel 3 or channel 4 with the TV remote or by TV channel buttons. One will be cable, the other will be the DVD.

you have to change the input on the tv to AV. there should be an input button on the remote, but if your remote doesnt work you might not be able to change the input. you can try to use the channel up and down on the tv and once you get to the end of the numbers, some tvs will change inputs before restarting the number list. make sure you hook the yellow cable to the yellow plugs on the dvd and the tv and either of the red or white ones to the white one on the tv. red and white are left and right audio and the yellow one is the video

Hooked up DVD player to 32" Westinghouse HDTV and now all dvd's are in black/white and fuzzy, along with only having 3 total channels! Help!

It sounds like something is shorting out do to an incorrect connection. Make sure you are matching the correct colors if using composite (RCA) or component cables. If you are using composite than hook the yellow for video and red and white for left and right audio. For component cables use the red blue and green for video instead of yellow and use the red and white from the composite cable for left and right audio leaving the yellow unplugged. You should have the cables coming from the DVD players output going to the TV's input. Select the same input on the TV that you have plugged into. If you are using coax cable through the DVD player if it has a tuner than you will need to change the TV to channel 3 or 4 depending on what the DVD is switched to. After you are done with the DVD player be sure to turn the power off so the cable can work properly. I am guessing here since I don't have much info to work with so I hope this helped you.

Hooking up a dvd player

Red and white are audio cables
Yellow is video.

Your problem is that your TV has no video inputs. TVs use those red white and yellow plugs to transmit the signal via those cables.
By cable box - do you mean a digital box? You can't run it through that unforunately - those connections are only for the box itself and it only has an output.

You'll have to go either:
Buy a new TV
or get an RCA Modulator.

Hooking up my DVD/VHS player to TV & Convertor box

I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.

DVD plays only in black and white

Hey, I had this problem on Thanksgiving Day, trying to watch a dvd on my mother's HDTV. You should be able to hook up most standard dvd players to hdtvs. First you have 3 cords, mine were red, yellow, and white. The connections go as follows:

HDTV:
Audio| Component. The white cord should be in a white audio slot. The yellow cord should be in a yellow component slot (video) and the red cord should be in a red video component slot labeled Pr/Cr. Make sure you match the component numbers. For instance, if you want to use component one, then hook all of the cords into the slots for component one. Most hdtvs have multiple component hookups ( think multiple "channels" for your game system, dvd player, etc) so it's important that the corresponding cords go to the correct component slots.

DVD:
Match the yellow and white cords to the appropriately colored slots. The red cord should go into the slot labeled component video out Cr/Pr. Not the red audio out. This worked for me. Hope this helps.

DVD player hook-up problem

Using the composite video connection method is pretty straightforward. you will be dealing with one video cable (marked in Yellow), and two audio cables (marked in White and Red) Red is right channel and white is left channel if stereo, if mono use the white marked cable. Look at the back of your DVD player you will see the video out RCA jack (marked in yellow) plug one end of the video cable into this jack, the plug the other end of the cable into the TVs Video In jack (marked in yellow) Then plug the audio cables into the Audio Out RCA jacks of the DVD player Red marked cable to red jack White Marked cable to white jack. After this is done plug the ends of the sother side of the cable into the Audio input of the TV white to white, red to red. At this point you should have video and audio once you set the menu of your tv to accept input from the Composite input and the audio jacks. I hope this helps.
