Adding to discription.I'm trying to connect two computers that access the net wirelessly but are not networked. I'm installing the HP using the HP installation disk,it does the configuration tells me to...

I am assuming your router or modem has wireless capabilities, or you have a wireless hub. If your provider is comcast you have to have comcast wireless equipment.
Make sure wireless is turned ON at modem/router switch and or IP page( in URL. most equipment uses that address by default if not you will have to get the address from the manufacturer of your equipment.). Again if your provider is comcast call comcast to set up your equipment (you have already paid for it!).Once you have established you are broadcasting a signal you should have no problem connecting. I hope that I helped GOOD LUCK

I have a D-link DGS-1005G. I have two computers connected and a printer. The D-Link is also connected via LAN. I can obtain internet connection to each computer with wireless and the printer will not...

Hi, you have to set up your printer as a device that can be communicated in your LAN by the two PCs.

To set up your printer properly in the LAN, you need to assign a fixed IP to this printer such that whenever it is switch on again, both PC still communicate to this printer without changing the new IP assigned to this printer.

You need to set up this fixed IP properly in your DLink router. For guidance please check this in your user manual of the Dlink. Please let me know any problem you may have again in future.

I have a linksys befw11s4 router, i dont have a install disk, the router works, i just need to set up and secure my network, how do i do that?

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or "1234" blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
If you are not able to access router then RESET it .You can RESET it with reset button it is in back side of router press it for 10 seconds then all settings goes to defaults then you can access it with above link.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Two pc connection by dlink switch

connect the router to the switch using any port-it does not matter which port you use. Connect each computer to any port on the switch-it matters not. The router will assign IP address to the computer as they are added.

Good Luck

Mode, Router, hub problems

Since you cant swap out the hub with a known working one, then the best advice that I can give you is to try to plug in the computer directly into the modem. If the Local Area Connection is able to gain a connection then you know without a doubt it was the hub causing problems. They actually dont sell hub's anymore but switches, here is a link to that has a listing of switches and their prices that you can check out --> <a href=";jsessionid=LJWOPCFTAK0UDKC4D3EFAHA?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&id=pcat17071&type=page&st=Switches&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&list=n&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960">Best Buy Switches</a>

Switch connectivity

Depending on router brand you may be able to log in and check that wired portion is enabled...look carefully at documentation for instructions. I had a similar problem with a D-Link Router and found the info for enabling wired connection at their website. Another problem I had one time was ( believe it or not ) one of my cats has a **** for chewing on wires !!! It was an easy fix after figuring out the problem. Cat is now at SPCA ( just kidding )
