Either the DVDs are too damaged for the DVD to play them, or the DVD player is experiencing some issues that need to be fixed. Have you tried playing the DVDs in another player? If they work, then you know its the DVD player, in which case you might as well just buy a new one. If the DVD doesn't play in a different player, then you know the DVDs are damaged.
Depending how old it is or the usage ,it can be the laser eye ,try using a lens cleaner ,there are cleaners that clean burr burning a higher beam to the lens, I personally don't like that one use the on with the brushes on the cd cleaner and use the 90 and above percent alcohol and dab a little with a qtip on the brushes then put it in and clean it, if that doesn't work ,it can be you laser eye needs replacing, also note many new recording formats are stressfull to these older cd/dvds try using and original clean blue or regular dvd to see what happens, many time these computer recorded dvds always have problems , good luck
From looking over the manual they should work in your dvd recorder. The fact that they are reformatted might be the problem. The recorder needs to formate the discs before it can use them. Try having the recorder reformat the discs before you try to record to them see if that helps at all. From the reading of customer reviews I have looked over, it seems like the DVD+R 's are easier to work with overall. If formatting them again does not work I might go out and prchase DVD's you know that work and use these for back up or burning data or videos from a computer instead.
Good Luck.
I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product
First off this is not an HD dvd player it is a dvd player that has HD upconversion. secondly if you want to record a cable show you will need to push that into the dvd recorder with the a/v input.
