Old cards don't fit new computers

I have a customer that did their own computer upgrade and are now claiming their Flashpoint 3dx cards don't fit in the new machines. Is there a smaller version or other options?

The only description of the computers I have at this point is that they're Dell towers. Unknown if they went to Vista with the new machines. They advise they physically do not fit inside the box.

    thanks for the help guys

They should fit, if the computers have a standard PCI slot, which most do. What kind of computers do they have?

Here is the description of the card :

FlashPoint 3Dx Lite is available in either AGP 2x or PCI formats. It has 3 video inputs and 1 I/O and flash sync trigger, and is fully compatible with entire line of FlashPoint 3Dx products....

If its AGP 2x of course it will not work and ametehan is right in asking if its Vista because a lot of manufacturer didn't make the drivers for all of there cards.

That what i was pointing out these cards comes in AGP2x and PCI. if it is AGP there is no way of putting that in a new computer.

Can i update camera firmware through a printer dock?

Kodak does not suggest a firmware upgrade through a printer dock. Instead, they recommend using an SD card (memory card).

First:
  1. Click Download, then save the firmware file to your computer desktop.
  2. Double-click the *.exe file. When the WinZip Self-Extractor screen appears, select a folder or accept the default location, then click Unzip. The firmware file unzips to the specified folder.
  3. Note the location of the *.FW file, then close the WinZip Self-Extractor.
Instructions:
  1. If you have pictures/videos on your camera's internal memory or on the memory card, save them to your computer.
  2. Ensure that your camera batteries are fully charged.
  3. Turn off your camera.
  4. Insert the memory card into your computer or into a card reader attached to your computer.
  5. Verify that the memory card has at least 100 MB free space.
  6. On your computer, select the removable drive associated with the memory card or card reader.
  7. If a System folder does not exist on the memory card, create one. From the removable drive window, select File > New > New Folder, then name the new folder System.
  8. Copy the *.FW file from your computer into the System folder.
  9. Remove the memory card from your computer or card reader, then insert it into your camera.
  10. Turn on your camera, then follow the instructions to begin the firmware upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes to complete.
  11. When "Upgrade was successful" appears on the LCD, select Delete Upgrade File to delete the firmware file from the memory card.
  12. Turn off your camera, then turn the camera on to activate the new firmware.

I just got the Sapphire 6850 Toxic edition and am attempting to use it in my custom PC, but when I install the card, no signal is making it to my monitor. I have attempted using dvi cables, and VGA cables...

Since you have ruled out the mainboard and the graphics card slot as causing the problem, I would say the actual graphics card is the faulty component. Try it in a friends computer, you may find that the card is faulty. Claim warranty support as soon as possible.

Try installing your old graphics card and uninstalling the drivers for it, then install the drivers for your new graphics card. Remove the old card and install the new card. This would ensure that drivers are not causing the problem, this may be posssible if say your old card is Nvidia based.

Take care!

WHAT COMPUTER PART CAN I USE IN MY NEW COMPUTER?

If you are talking about a desktop, you may be able to add a USB card to it, which will give you USB functionality. But, if your computer is *this* old, you might be better off getting a new one anyways just for the huge performance increase. You are always able to add more RAM to it, upgrade hard drive, etc. Adding memory is the single most upgrade that helps a computer be faster.

Considering that your old computer doesn't have USB ports, there likely is very little that you will be able to use on the new one. Several leaps in technology have occured.

But, to answer your question, you can likely move the hard drive from old computer, as well as the optical drives (CD/DVD). If your graphics card is not part of the motherboard, that can be brought over as well. Add the keyboard and mouse, and that will be about it.

I need to know what are my options if i want to upgrade my gateway 500gr. Mamory, video card, power supply? what else can i do?

If your computer is more than 4 years old and you want a faster computer with a high end graphics card for games, RAM and larger hard disk and Windows 7, then I would seriously consider buying a new computer. You don't need to purchase a new monitor (keep your existing one), this will reduce the costs.
An upgraded old computer would not be as good as a new one, when you consider the costs and time involved with replace hardware and installing Windows on a larger hard drive, device drivers and programs etc.

Upgrade graphics on a Asus psgc mx 1333

Hi,

I remember the days when I was noobin' it up w/ my PC, and I also wanted a new video card. But that was 4 years ago. I know a lot more now lol.

To keep things simple, I'll say this:

You can fit any video card in there as long as it's for a PCI-E x16 slot, which is a lot better than say, the old school AGP slots.

The possible not-so-good news is that it's not PCI-E 2.0 x16 compatible, which rules out most of the newer cards.

http://www.newegg.com Is a great place to buy computer parts, as they usually have some nice deals on there. I built the computer I'm typing this on from there, so I've been a customer.

One of the great things about the site is the way you can filter things down, and by slot type is one of your choices

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162022 that video card is probably the best one they have, and it's pretty cheap compared to newer cards. Don't expect to play the newest games on there, as this isn't all too great of a card.

If you really want to get into some good gaming, you'll need a new rig, which you can either build or buy (I recommend build....saves A LOT of dough)

Hope this helps ya out bud,

Good Luck :)

Hp compaq d530 400 watt power supply

You will not find a power supply for this case. Why would you want to upgrade such an old computer? Get yourself a new one with amply power for your needs. If you are one that upgrades regularly, get a standard case with standard components that can be upgraded without the hassle of replacing proprietary form-factor compnents.

Yes that's correct simply turn off the power OFF from the computer and to make sure unplug it from the power outlet, then remove the existing 512 RAM and put the new RAM and then turn the power back ON and that's it.....

Oc a nvidia geforce 5700 ultra need info

Hey,

Do you want to overclock the 5700 ultra? Its a old card and the performance wont get much better, instead I would suggest upgrading the video card to a newer one or the whole computer.

The nvidia 7xxx series fits into a AGP slot I would recommend that, its alot better but upgrading the computer would be even better.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse
