Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

After a while the screen goes grey and the computer wont respond.

Over a year ago my graphics card went numb and I had to replace the motherboard with the warrantysystem. Now, a year later, I have problems with the display again. After a random period of time the screen goes grey, messy and the computer itself wont respond. I then reboot the computer by shutting it down manually but the problem is not solved and the same thing happens again. I wonder if there is a way to solve a problem like this?

Thanks for the swift solutionpost! Now the problem has gone even worse. The computer wont start. It just keeps starting, then shutting down and starting again until I shut it down manually. I have always used a cooler under my laptop cause this computer overheats itself very efficiently - guess it's not enough. I'll let it cool down now for a while and try to start it after about an hour to see if the graphics card is completely gone.

It should be problem of graphics card or the graphics chip. if that is from nvidia, setting up ntune may cause such problem or if you did any overclocking. may also have a problem of getting hot. try reinstalling operating system if you feel comfortable of reinstalling OS. it would solve any driver related issue.

Then check the cooling system of your laptop.

finally think about a change if none works.

My computer screen started to show horizontal lines a long time ago. It's not the computer, it's the screen because I had this screen on my computer and went to buy a new one. About 2 to 4 years later

Hr scello try to renew or install the screen card driver.

I think your pc is missing the driver.
When the driver is not correct or missing, you get a bad picture on your screen.

Visit the pc or graphic cards homepage insearch for the screen driver.

Good luck

Do u have a graphics card in the pc? If you have then disconnect the video cable from that and connect the video cable with the default vga port of the motherboard and check. if there is no graphics card then the integrated graphics card of the motherboard is damaged. that means motherboard is needed to be replaced.
