I cant play cd or dvd on my laptop

You can install or reinstall DVD driver onto your laptop.
1. Open Device Manager using devmgmt.msc command and enable "View -> Show hidden devices" option. Now locate the DVD/CD-ROM drives and IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers items.
2. Right-click on each entry present under both "DVD/CD-ROM drives" and "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" sections one bye one and select Uninstall.
3. Once all have been removed, right-click again and select Scan for hardware changes.
The drives will be rediscovered and when the drivers are loaded back, the drives will re-appear in My Computer window.
You can also try to restart your computer.
Then you should also have a DVD player program on your laptop. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can play both Blu-ray and DVD movies.

THE CD/DVD PLAYER ON MY HP PAVILION a1110n WILL NOT PLAY ANYTHING. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS SPINNING BUT, IT MUST NOT BE READING. I TRIED TO UPDATE THE DRIVERS BUT, I STILL CAN'T GET ANYTHING TO WORK. THE...

First of all check if the drivers are properly installed in device manager:-
Right click on Computer and then click Properties--device manager, expand CD/DVD Rom drive and check if the driver is installed.
If driver is installed right click on it and click on delete and then restart the computer.

If the above step doesn't help then try to delete upper/lower filter in registry:-
Click Start--Run type 'regedit' and press enter and now expand the following-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
now on the right panel right click the 'upper filter' and click delete and then right click the 'lower filter' and then click delete.

If these steps doesn't help then it means there is a hardware fault with your dvd/cd drive and you need to replace the same.

My IBM R51 laptop can't read any other cd/vcd

Hello,

its either its a lens problem or that was how the CD/DVD Drive was made.

There are some drives that doesn't play white face discs, that is, they select disc and don't play all CD's, so maybe yours fall under this category.

How long have you been using your laptop and has it ever played Cd/Vcd's before?

If it plays them before, then it means your drive's lens is weak, but if it has never played them before, then it means that's how the player was made.

Which ever way, you still have an option of replacing the drive if you wish.

Take care.

Problem in cd-dvd drive of hp laptop

This is not a driver problem. It is almost certainly a problem with yourdvd/cd player. If it is reading dvd's, then it means that the driver is installed. You will have to take your laptop in and possibly get the cd/dvd player replaced.

Hp pavillion dv6835nr dvd player

Try this, put a DVD movie in the drive, then open windows explorer (Right click the start button, click explore) then see if you can read the DVD files on the DVD.

If you cannot browse the DVD then the DVD optics of the drive have failed and you will need to replace the drive.

Cant play a dvd on laptop hp pavilion dv4000

I assume it will not play Store bought or rental dvd's.

Try buying a cleaning disc and see if that helps. Other than that the drive would need taken apart and cleaned to see if that fixes it.

It could also be an electronic failure, in which case it would be cheaper to replace the drive.

Hope that helps...
