SOURCE: Garmin nuvi 350 battery replacement

I can't do it for you, but I have done it myself. See the instructions on my webpage at www.dacust.com/nuvi350/index.html. Pictures and everything, along with where I got my battery and the part number, etc. Warning, there are many opportunities to damage your unit doing this. Not for the novice.

Garmin nuvi 2555lm battery want charge

A common problem with these units are loose/broken connections on the rear USB port. There are 5 pins on this port. If the power pins are loose/broken, the unit will not be able to charge the battery. The unit will not turn on because the battery is dead. Even if you plug in the charger, there battery will not charge.

The unit will not charge the battery if it won't turn on.

While you could have a bad battery, the Nuvi 25xx series is not that old and the date code on the battery is probably from 2010 or later.

If you plug in the charger, the green battery status indicator should go away or you should see a lightning bolt appear over the battery status indicator . If you don't see a change to the battery status indicator when you plug in the charger, then this confirms that the rear USB port is broken and not applying a charge to the battery.

Hello, I own Garmin edge 705 I cannot turn it on when plugged to charger display shows battery icon close to empty (2 pixel line) and no charging is happening at all when connected to computer via...

Sounds like your battery has gone bad to me. I also own a garmin. I would suggest you contact garmin for repairs. You can go to their web site at www.garmin.com go to the top of the page where it says My garmin and log in to your account. If you don't have one then sign up for one its free. Then contact technical support either by email or by phone to get your unit repaired.

I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a YES on the web page you just received my response on. Thank you

Battery connectors broke

Hey there NewYork691,

I'm from Long Island. The name is Mike and I may be able to give you a more economical solution.

From your description, it sounds like one of the contact that connect the (+) of one battery to the (-) of the next battery broke. If that's what happened, no worries, you'll be fixed in no time.

Find yourself a penlight, remote or any other device that uses AA batteries that you aren't going to miss. Open up the battery compartment and remove one of the spring contacts.

You may have to hunt around to find something similar, but all it has to do is fit in and make contact. The compartment cover will hold the batteries in.

You should be back in business.

Mike

Take it back to where you got it. It should not be broken after such a short time?

Skycaddie : cannot plug it in to recharge

Had problems charging mine, bought replacement battery and it wouldn't charge either. Looked inside charging port and noticed a slightly bent pin, straightened it and works perfectly. Bought battery from batterybob.com $26 vs $49 from skygolf.

WILL NOT TURN ON

There are generally 2 causes for this symptom.

1. The input connector is usually a 3 terminal device. When the plug is inserted into the device, a spring loaded contact is pushed away from another terminal which effectively disconnects the battery section from the device. This stops any electricity from the plug from being connected to your batteries and causing overload conditions. If this spring loaded terminal has been damaged, when the plug is removed from the device it will not "spring" itself back to its terminal and the battery power will not reach the PC board.

2. The battery case (compartment) has 2 wires going from it (internal to the device) one black and one red. If either of these wires has broken off the battery holder or broken off the PC board within the device, it will not power up.

You can also make sure that all the batteries are inserted in the correct direction. Since the unit works when plugged in, you can cross out anything else having to do with the unit.

Battery compartment connectors

I had this happen with my 76CS. The cost for a look at it is $125. I used a piece of aluminum foil.

Fold it over, make certain it holds tight against the wire.

It's not the best solution, but it works.

You could also search for a device with a similar battery contact, unsolder it, and pull the Garmin apart and solder it in. I'm still looking for the right device.
