You probably turned it off by accident. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware and choose "Windows Update" under "Drivers". Make sure either the first or second choice is selected.

Hi does the acer aspire 3684wxmi\r\nhave an on off

remove the mouse...and insert it again ...after restarting the computer ..Being a usb mouse this is just a matter of driver ..so probably needs reinstalling ..if you have the original driver just insert the disk and run it ...and restart ..if not ..go to control panel and run the add new hardware wizard ...choose already added ..and it will search for devices..if it does not find it ..change the usb port ..and try again ...if you know that you had the driver in it ...and you didnt reinstalled teh computer ..it will find it and ask for driver or start the wizard ...in this moment just run it automatically ..

Want to use wireless mouse with my laptop how can I do this. I have a window vista laptop

Just buy a USB wireless mouse. There is a transceiver that plugs into the USB port of the computer, the size of a thumb drive, and it sends and receives signals to the wireless mouse. In my opinion, a wireless, optical mouse is the best. Normally the footprint (size) of the mouse is smaller than a desktop one as well if you choose. With Vista, just plug it in the USB port and windows should install the drivers without any disks. But if it doesn't just insert the disk that comes with the mouse. You only need a driver for it. A driver is a set of instructions that tell the device what to do. Every piece of hardware in your computer has a specific driver.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Missing thumb drive for mouse. can i load drivers on a regular thumb drive?

Sorry, but no. The USB device is not a thumb drive, it is a transceiver that "talks" to the mouse and picks up the movements and inputs them to the computer. Without the USB device, you have a paperweight. These are selling for less than $20, so just replace it.

USB wireless keyboard doesn't work

You need to unload the USB drivers for the keyboard and let windows find them again at restart. How does a novice do this? It's not hard. Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Keyboards. Right click on this and select uninstall. Reboot your machine. If the drivers are not corrupted they should load fine, if they are corrupted then Windows will ask for the original operating system disk.

All this assumes that your keyboards are electronically working. This last holiday season alot of people brought in their Logitech - Target specials that no longer worked. Seems that if you insert the batteries backwards once the keyboard no longer operates (mouse OK). Never checked in to it too deep.

Good Luck

USB Ports Stopped Working

Well let me be the first to say I see you have skills. All of your troubleshooting is exactly by the book. The only thing I see that was not checked is the CMOS (BIOS) setup screen to make sure that the USB function is enabled there. Good luck and let me know how it goes, we have a couple of hundred years of experience at FixYa so keep me updated if you have any more problems.

Aspire 3610 USB ports

I think you might have a loose cononection for the data ports. Try putting a little bit of force on the usb device. Up, down left right. NOT ALOT. If it starts working when force is used, i tihnk you should try to take it apart and resolder the connections. If it dosen't work, uninstalling the driver and installing.
