Question about Sanyo PLC XF45 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

How do you work the service menu on Sanyo XF-45 projector?

How do you check lamp hours on xf-45 or x4-35 projectors? When I enter the service menu (hold up+menu for 20 sec) it ignores the up and down buttons, times out, and goes away before I can change the group number. Does anyone know why it would do this?

SOURCE: How to check lamp hours on xf-45 or xf-35?

On the XF-45, you push the "UP" button and then the "Menu" button and hold both of them for approximately 20 seconds. After that you will see a bunch of numbers in the top left hand corner of the screen. Using the Left and Right arrow keys, move the "Group" number until it reads 111. Then using the Up and Down arrow keys to scroll through each lamp (0-3).

If you move the "Group" number to 110, you can see total number of hours that socket has run.

hold down the UP button on the keypad for 30+ seconds, a pop-up menu will appear on the screen indicating the lamp hours. if that doesn't work, hold down the POWER-ON/OFF button for 30+ seconds. it's one of those 2.

Hi, i have the projector since january 2009, i use it no more than 2 hours a week, sudenly the lamp stupped to work, and when i try to get it on - the replace lamp is flash, what is the prublem?

Was it new when you bought it. (that is, are the lamp hours approximately 220 hours genuine)
take the lamp out and check that it looks OK.
The unit may have an electronic fault on the lamp power supply board.

I have a Sony VPL-CX61 Multimedia Projector. I just changed the lamp and I cannot get the "please replace lamp" message to go off.

When you use a projector it automatically keeps a timer of how long the lamp has been used for. The message that comes up on screen saying "please replace the lamp" comes up not because it's some how sensing that the lamp is getting old, but because the lamp hours gets to a certain number (usually up around 1500 hours). Because of this when you replace the lamp you need to reset the lamp hours counter, or the projector doesn't even know you've changed it. Every projector does it this way, and they all do it a different way, I googled the model you gave us and found this set of instructions on how to do it, so give it a go.

Reset the lamp counter hours of operation for the projector SONY VPL-CX61
Using the remote commander while the unit is powered up, press "ENTER", "ENTER", "LEFT"
and "ENTER" in sequence. A prompt will appear on the screen asking if you wish to enter the factory mode.
Press the "UP" key on the remote and the unit is now in service mode. This sequence will add two new groups
to the customer setup menu. Press the "MENU" button to view.
Whenever the lamp is replaced, the lamp timer should be reset. With the unit in the "factory" mode, press
"RESET", "LEFT", "RIGHT" and "ENTER" on the remote commander. Verify the lamp hours have been reset to
zero in the service menu.

Hope this worked for you,

Is there any way to check the bulb life on a Sanyo PLC-XU30 projector? I know some projectors have an option on the menu screen which lets you know how long the bulb has left. Its just that i bought it off...

on my XU 55 the trick to read the lamp hours is to press and hold down the power button in about 20 seconds when the projector is turned on. there will come a window in the upper left corner that tells about total hours and lamp hours. the window will disappear quite fast, so one might need to do it twice.
